Dial, hands & bezel look cheap & nasty to me. I'm really not sure if todays watch buying public would want to buy that style of watch. I love the 6105 & from the pic, the case & bracelet look good but I don't ever want to look at that particular watch again.

I do not like...the dial logo...dial markers...hands...pip. I am fortunate to own a lovely 6105 and have no envy/desire for a "modern" one but I am anticipating a much better go at it from Jake. Plus all the negative feedback about Eddie's customer service and unwillingness to support design flawed watches makes it a no go. OK, what do we think? hide.gif

Eww. It looks like all the cheap AM parts we see without the crispness that makes the genuine parts what they are. Also the bezel is weird and the lume pip is ugly.

That watch makes me wish I had more hands... so I could give it four thumbs down.

Is it just my eyes or does it say Japan where the dial code should be?
Great watch to buy and then fit your own dial and hand set yes1.gif You would then get a waterproof case and vintage looks!

That I now the third in a flurry of 6105 homages..
What I can't understand, is why Seiko hasn't picked up on the opportunity and made a modern version..

As an homage; I think it's quite well done.
It obviously isn't trying to be a direct copy and it isn't.
I'm not a fan of the 6105 so this watch looks fine to me...better than any of the fake dial monstrosities that Soy has made.

Doesn't look that bad to me, I like a vintage design with the 'no-hassle' factor of modern technology. The case shape is a winner, and the dial seems quite wrll done. But eh, one of my favourite beaters is a Loy ScubaPro (I trust you guys will keep that between us and you all promise not to spill the beans to Pete! Pinky promise?)
But I'm barracking for the Typhoon from Jake as well, as Saul said the stories about design flaws and louzy customer service would keep me far away from Mr Eddie...

Whew. For a minute after reading the dial I was afraid I was going to have to send a sternly worded letter to Morrissey. Hate to have to stop listening to "Meat Is Murder" over this watch...

Oh, and don't get hung up on 'bad customer service' stories about Eddie Platts. I hear a lot more good customer service stories than bad, and have experienced outstanding customer service from him on more than one occasion.

I hear a lot more good customer service stories than bad, and have experienced outstanding customer service from him on more than one occasion. Well...Eddie has his detractors and his fans and all points in between. I suppose it was unfair of me to take a dig as I have only bought straps from him. I have never really had any interest in his watches although I have admired some of them and I still think the Dreadnaught is one of the coolest boutique efforts that I ever seen from anyone. And yet...just a handful of bad press on how he has handled issues with the Smiths Everest PRS-25 is sufficient to sour a lot of people. In the end I respect his business and I have not read about any systemic issues with other watches...I just don't care for how he executed some of the design aesthetics of this one.
