Well we can save a couple of quid, Jakes just put on Facebook that you can buy them on a Triple-D polyurethane dive strap for $570. If you want an H link you can get them when they're ready for an extra $80

OK, what do we think? hide.gif Does the crystal pop out at room pressure as others have reported with previous Smiths Explorer watches have reported? I haven't bought a Smiths but have had a Broadarrow PSR something and it was a great wtach and well built with no problem. Waitnign to see what JAkes take on the 6105 looks like.

Does the crystal pop out at room pressure as others have reported with previous Smiths Explorer watches have reported? I'm not sure how anyone would know as nobody will have got them yet. The first people to find out will be opening their packages in about 2 hours from now. I'm sure if there's any problems you'll be informed. Fingers crossed eh?

I just can't see spending that kind of money, on a watch with an ugly AM 6105 dial. It just goes against everything I have been complaining about for years, badly reproduced 6105 dials.

^^ Totally agree...that lume pip is nuts.
I guess I'm biased having an original but I'm glad Jake's version came out the way it did...drilled lugs, fatter bezel and custom options with dials and even the crown. Even if you went for Jake's "original" dial design, there are other aspects of the watch that sets it apart from the original.
But for the consumer, its great that these two watches went it different directions as the PRS version more closely resembles the original (with AM parts =) )

I'm hoping to get a bit of breathing space before it's released Chris. My cars engine self destructed last month and that was another unexpected £1600 bill, it never rains but it pours! I know what you mean mate beating-head-against-the-wall

That's the thing though Tim, it isn't an AM watch, it's Eddies version of what the 6105 would be if it was produced today. It doesn't have a badly produced AM 6105 dial, 'cos it ain't a 6105! In fact nothing on this watch would fit a 6105 - everything bar the movement has been designed and produced for the watch. The inference is that the dial's badly produced? That's a subjective statement if you own one and emotive one if you don't, however I own (and have owned) a few of Eddies watches and non of the dials have been 'badly produced" by any stretch of the imagination. Eddies watch is as aftermarket as Jakes is, that's to say it completely isn't! There are elements of this watch I'd have done differently if it was my project. I'd have had water200resist instead of 200metres on the dial and I'd have gone for an applied Smiths logo, but these really are minor points in the grand scheme of things. At the end of the day if it reminds you of AM 6105's you aren't going to buy one, but thats no biggie, everyones different. It reminds me of a vintage 6105 diver so I will buy one. A bonus for me is that it also comes with a bracelet with divers extension and a rubber waffle that have been exclusively designed for the watch. I'm looking forward to getting this, just as I'm looking forward to getting one of Jakes. It will be interesting to have all three side by side and compare!

I appreciate your sentiments, but this..... Looks WAY to similar to this... I am in no way saying that it's a poorly made watch, it just reminds me of a cheap knock-off.

I get what your saying Tim, I really do! I have no desire to own an aftermarket stuffed Seiko, but for me I'm reminded of the original not a cheap knockoff. In fact cheap knockoffs don't even register in my consciousness - I don't give 'em a first thought never mind a second.

Look at it this way...If the Seiko 6105 never existed...Then it is a very attractive watch, For myself it is in no way worth the asking price, Maybe 1/2 that at best
