Oh Golly Gee Wilikers!! Look what we missed this morning at 12:30 am at the Antique Watch Bar!! It is a 1966 Seiko Skyliner Diashock 6220-7120, the likes of which I have never seen! Maybe I need to set a special alarm for Eric's weekly refresh. Then again I understand he has clients that text him the moment his update comes out to claim watches. So, maybe I need to get his phone number?? This is also a reminder of just how vast the span of Seiko watches is out there. You just never know what is going to pop up. - Thomas

Where's the big WTF button ? Bah! Do you folks have no sense of the rarity, the uniqueness of the item? If I had the right blue eyes, in the right fancy dress setting, with the right suit, I'd wear that! I am quite secure in my masculinity! - Thomas

I think that is a very elegant looking watch.

Interesting watch and I have never seen that dial design before, it is quite unusual. The standard dial marker design is the same as the two examples that I have. 6220-7020 (sorry for the dust) 6220-7320 On the example shown the seconds hand has a rectangular centre piece that looks a little out of place. I would have expected this to be a round centre section like the hour/minute hands, so it might have been replaced. As another example of this is unlikely to turn up soon we may never know for sure.

Anthony, do pieces like this make it into the annual/seasonal catalogues, or do they just turn up as limited-run mystery watches?

I have a feeling that this would be in the standard catalog.
If a model is a LE then they often do appear, but if they are a standard model, even with low production units, then they are normally in the catalog.
Unfortunately I do not have a catalog from that period so I can not check.

I have a reference to that case and handset, from the Dragonfly books: Crazy markers! Not sure what to think. Thanks for the pics!

Hi, I picked up a version of this watch too, I’d been looking for a birth year watch and this one was birth birth month too. Case is palladium plated according to markings on case back. It’s great to see the case with other faces, was it a ‘66 only case? The blue stones do look closer to sapphire in colour than aquamarine but I’d suspect they’re blue glass, they do look very nice and not too showy. It was an eBay buy and seller thought strap was original too with a nice Seiko buckle. Attachments:
