I've noticed that there doesn't seem to a lot of love for the Seiko Helmet watches. Both here and at TOF, I don't ever recall seeing lots of pics or praise for this particular model. They do have a bit of a funky design but there are collectors who like some of the unique funky designs.
So . . . any ideas as to why?

Not a very attractive design IMO, I really have no desire to own one.

I would like one again. I had one before but sold it because I didn't know Spencer and Jonathan yet. I think that one of the main issues with them is finding a piece with a decent case. Many I've seen have pitted cases, most of which are hidden underneath the caseback. Unless the seller gives you a photo with the caseback off, showing the movement, I would be wary.

Each to his own I guess, but I like the Citizen variety, for example: Stephen

Mine is getting a lot of wrist time lately, I'm still trying to decide whether to have the case spruced up.

I certainly can't fault someone for liking the design, variety is the spice of life.

It's all a matter of taste/preference. I'm not a fan of the design myself, but if I were, Hobbes' image here might have turned me off. laugh1.gif

I think they're kinda ugly and the cases get beat up really easily.

From a personal taste standpoint, I actually like the case design. I'm actually looking for a clean specimen to add in my collection although my preference is towards the larger 6138-0020 "Tokei Zara" JDM speed timer which shares the same aesthetic helmet architecture as the smaller 6139-700x series

The shape and design of the case and bezel tend to show each and every little scratch and nick.
I have a few, but never wear them.

Owed one but sold it. I wished it could be BIGGER I notice the crystal is about 33mm diameter, and the shape of the head seems to make it look smaller than it is. Just happen to wearing Pollys helmet today, it is fitted with A/M fake parts and I think the hands and dial need re-luming. It is an acquired taste and prefer many of the other 6139's
