I thought I would put down my impressions of this watch having worn it continuously since purchase. .
While in Shanghai it was very obvious that brand name watches and other brand name items were big amongst the local shoppers.. my mission was to find a Chinese manufactured watch from one of the leading Chinese watch manufacturers.. too often Chinese watches have been tarred by association with fake watches..
So I went into one of the watch shops in the main shopping precinct.. plenty of Swiss brands on the ground floor.. so despite the language barrier I managed to ask where I could find a Shanghai brand watch.. the helpful shop attendant pointed upstairs..
Upstairs there were many mechanical clocks and a display case containing Shanghai watches from the most basic through to some very nice tourbillon watches.. then I spotted the Shanghai triple date moonphase. . amazingly my wife asked if I would like it, which was a surprise as I had already used my watch budget for the holiday.. this watch uses a modern rendition of the Shanghai B calibre movement..
Now some pics..
Comparison shot with my Cortebert triple date moonphase. .
Specifications:
Shanghai B automatic movement - hacks and handwinds
Diameter - 39mm, with crown 42mm
Lug to lug - 45mm
Lugwidth - 20mm
Thickness - 19mm
Water resistance - 3 ATM
The pushers are used to set the three dates and moonphase..
Since setting the watch on arrival back in New Zealand, it is within one minute.. I haven't been OCD enough to time it daily..
It is comfortable to wear, is very solid and has a good weight to it.. and of course the basket weave on the dial is fantastic..
Lastly, the price.. 1900 yuan which converted to $ NZ 421..
Cheers
