Dear Tony,
I was expecting to see another Orient, but this time you have a beautiful vintage Seiko. That Proof dial is awesome!
Wear it i9n the best of health, my friend . . .

Very nice Tony. Right up my street ! yes1.gif
I think I would have to go for 1970 because of the 6 digit serial No. The 66a calibre rather than 66b suggests earlier, and the 66 was made over a long period but I think maybe not as far back as 1960 ? I have an old hand wind with a 6602 calibre from 1963 but it says 14091 instead of the "usual" number.
I am always ready to be corrected ! thunbsup.gif

Quick question - what are the differences between the 66A and 66B movements?

There is very little info available about the 66 calibre. I found a site that showed the specs of the a and b and they were the same !

I'm wearing it's older brother today, a 66-0010 from 1965!

Another 66 series has arrived... Dial in poor condition but runs well and has a good power reserve.. Serial number dates it to July 1969.. Cheers

Nice grabs Sire chinathumbsup.gif
I have seen a lot of 66B movements but the 66A seems to be a lot more scarce. I don't know what the difference is but I imagine it is small enough that we wouldn't notice. One thing I spotted is the 6600 notation on the dial...I've never seen that before. It may go hand in hand with the 66A calibre and perhaps what was a very short run.
No matter; these are both wonderful pieces of Seiko history a063
