Vintage Roamer has arrived and am quite happy with it overall.. The whole movement with dial and crystal are encased in the caseback shell.. The removal of the crown and stem had me beat, so I PM'd the good captainscarlet, Alex, and he put me on the straight and narrow with his advice.. A firm pull on the crown and the male and female sections parted allowing me to drop the movement out of the caseback.. The movement is calibre MST414 and the case is a 136414.. www.ranfft.de/cgi-bin/bidfun-db.cgi?10&ranfft&&2uswk&MST_414 Will have a go at slowing the rate down to acceptable and then sometime in future get it serviced.. Perhaps down to Alex for his nicotine clean of the dial as it smells to me like stale tobacco smoke inside.. Cheers

Great looking watch, Tony. Nice case back, and the movement looks great as well.

Update.. Well it was running about 3 hours fast per day.. Got me thinking about magnetised watch.. Bought a cheap demagnetiser of TM.. Had a few tries to get it demagnetised.. Thought I had diagnosis wrong.. Then I looked inside the watch again and noticed that the hairspring looked 'tangled up' and it wasn't that way before.. maybe the demagnetising had done this.. Don't know for certain, but once I gently 'detangled' the hairspring it is now seems to be running as it should.. ticking sounds correct to mark one ear and it didn't before.. beat monitor graph on the Android clock tuner app on my cellphone is looking great too..
I am one happy camper..

Another great find Tony! If I ever make to your neck of the woods I'm going hunting with you. I only have one Roamer in my collection.

The watch is now with Alex and he has started the work on it.. Here are some pics he sent me.. First two are of the dial as it was.. We had some discussion via email about whether to try cleaning it or not.. I asked Alex if he could perhaps just clean the swiss made logo writing at the bottom of the dial.. In the end it was a full dial clean after all.. Huge improvement I think.. He also sent a movement shot.. Cheers
