Some of you may recall the world timer thread. At the end of it I described a world diver challenge. I'd like to open an invitation to join me in sending this Citizen Aqualand around the waterways of the world ... (Vagary is an Italian subsidiary of Citizen) The Aim: To send this watch to as many places across the globe and get as many water based photos and geographical locations (gps co-ordinates) as possible over a 12 month period. Method: Anyone who would be interested in participating need to register their interest on this thread. I would like to get at least 12 names before I start so at minimum we have one location a month. Consider planned holidays as well so we can have an efficient plan to post and have it available for any planned trips. Results: Collect all depth recordings over 1m deep. Collect all the photos, videos and locations of any dives. At the end of the comp I'd like to do a clip of all the places the watch has been and any of the dives it's completed. Conclusion: At the end of the comp I am considering offering this watch as a prize to the MND (most notable dive)(best shots/ location/ 'dive method' ) Note: the only thing you need is water >1m deep to participate. Please respond to this thread if you would like to be involved or any questions you may have. Cam

Great idea. I'll be part of it. A suggestion perhaps is to coordinate continents so it's not spending all its time in international postage. To that end, I suggest Aus first (then NZ perhaps if we have any takers). 😃

youtu.be/N9wYc2Ak7KgHere is an instructional video on the watch I made this morning. I'm sure we have some dive enthusiasts out there happy to take up the challenge. There is a free Japanese dive watch up for grabs.

Very cool! If I still lived in Florida I’d be all over this.

I'm interested. My family and I are going on a cruise the the western Caribbean next August. I'm not a diver but have gone snorkeling at Disney's private island in the Bahamas. Water is maybe 15 - 20 feet deep so that would qualify.

I will only be swimming and maybe snorkeling with this watch. I've never dived. I'd be interested in doing my course. Btw It's been pressure tested to 5atm so should be able to handle the swimming pool challenges. I'm eager to see the locations we can get this watch. It only takes 0.1 atmospheres is pressure to get a reading. Maybe I should take away the concept of ocean and swimming to get some of you landlubbers interested. Here is a 30m 'dive' I did in a shopping center.

My issue is twofold. I don’t go in the sea much in UK as it’s so damned cold! And if I’m in a pool I don’t have a water proof camera. Plus taking pics in a public pool would end up with me being lynched! That aside I’d be up for it if it came to the UK.

Hi.I won’t put my name in the hat as the will be up here anyway. Instead, maybe, we should organise a wis get together on the Sunshine Coast. I am keen to see how Tritto handles the heat and humidity of Queensland summer. It’s 37c today and it hasn’t really started yet. Generally we call Tasmanians baked lobster after 3 days. Cheers Phil

I'll drag my old point and shoot digital out for the purposes of this challenge.

Cheers Phil I'm a pale Aussie from English stock so I've done my time getting burnt. I'm a bit wiser these days and am liberal with the sunscreen. TBH, it's easier to get burnt here in Tassie than it is in Qld though, less ozone and cooler weather that tricks you into forgetting to slip, slip, slap. Are you on the Sunshine Coast Phil?

It’s on... the World Diver Challenge is on. I have taken it for a dip up at Moreton Island. . I thought these yellow fish would be attracted to it. youtu.be/6C-onwGtTZcA bit boring but I have the depth gauge set to beep at 3 m. youtu.be/2pPFnsPIceENext stop is Tasmania- tritto is planning on taking it to Noosa. Tristan will be testing it out with a zip lock iPhone case. I expect rossr will be receiving it after that for an adventure over to west Oz. Id like to ensure pip gets to drop it into the river Thames or some other shenanigans. (With a line connected to him and not connected to a brick) Keep in mind it does log your dive even if you don’t have an underwater camera or don’t want to get wet and attach it to a toy submarine or a pet Cormorant. August is locked in for 69ChevelleSS and the Tropical Island adventure. Let it be known, I don’t dive so and still love the features of a watch that can withstand shallow underwater adventures. Be sure to drop a note to this thread if you want to send the watch around the world. Even if it doesn’t dive. longbike Hawaii would be a great place to send the watch. scubarob99 I’d like the ball to roll in as many locations and you are an obvious choice. Please tag anyone else you may think could enjoy this challenge or random water locations over the globe.
