... Hi zetamajor , (donning my trainspotters hat here) that is a pretty remarkable piece that you have. It is the earliest serial number that I have seen reported, winds the start back another 129 places, and closes up that problematic gap at the start of the record. If it would be possible to post a picture both of the face and caseback - you should at least be able to post a link to a sharing site - that would be fantastic. BTW it was less than a week ago that I came across the highest serial number from the series - the June 62MAS - in a historically important publication on Seiko Divers by MrSeikosha. Best regards, Ross Hi Ross, hopefully you can pick out the dolphin on the caseback.

Hi zetamajor, and thanks. What a great piece. The earliest I have seen, and one that is very good condition too. That caseback is in very good shape. On my own 8000 (May), I can read the serial, but the dolphin insignia is just about worn away. Regards, Ross

I thought I'd try and present some of the information in a slightly different way. I have a bit more to add. And no, this isn't M87.

Thanks pip , it was a bit more time consuming than I initially thought. A combo of what to do, and then what to use and how to do it. As you may have worked out, each ring represents a year, the months are divided in to 12 sectors like a watch dial, and the colours represent months. The samples are located along the ring in proportion to the ratio of lowest:highest serial number occurring each month. More to come!

Daini creamy lume in perfect condition dial and hand set, seen today at an Estate Sale. Asking price was more than most would pay. Needs a new crystal under that lies perfection.
April 1967 Horseshoe case back, my apologies for not thinking to take a photo to nail down the exact case number.

Definitely a beauty. I gave up searching, sold my Daini 6105 and got a lovely condition 1st month 8000 so I'm very content. I know who struck that deal for the Daini 62mas...he did well.... Here's my "normal" one, which I'm ecstatic with!

Congrats on a real stunner!

But just was not motivated, not saying that is or is not a fair price but $2200 just wasn't burning a hole in my pocket plus my better half was with me And who knows if there's a 6206 stuffed inside.

Plus, dare I say it, to me the 62MAS is better in the green lume well fill colors than the rarer Daini tan/cream. Just like it belongs on a Tropic to my eye.
