Hello Wrist-Sushi members - I'm looking forward to getting to know you and learning more about Japanese watches. My name is Dan and I'm a long time collector of vintage watches from Colorado, USA, but I only recently purchased my first non-Swiss watch, the fine 62mas pictured below (assuming I am able to post photos). This came about because a collector-friend was letting-go some divers, and he offered me the Seiko along with some others. It caught my eye because of its condition, but after doing some research, I began to understand its historical importance, and decided that I really needed to have it in my collection. This started me looking at some other vintage Seiko pieces, including early Grand Seikos and 6139-600X chronographs, and ultimately I decided that I should connect with Japanese watch enthusiasts (I am active on other watch forums, and really appreciate these communities). I will say a few words about my collection, but those not interested in Swiss watches can stop reading here... A big chunk of it consists of hand-winding column wheel chronographs and interesting vintage sport watches. I have a small military sub-collection and some miscellaneous dress watches. The collection is very eclectic in terms of brands, although I do have a particular interest in vintage Rolex, Omega, IWC, and Zenith. As promised, photos of my only Japanese watch ... so far.

Not a bad little number to start off your Seiko collection!

Welcome to the Sushi Bar! If column wheel chronographs are your thing, why not look into the first automatic chronograph in space - conveniently a vertical clutch clolumn-wheel chrono from Seiko...

That's a great suggestion. I've tried on a friend's 6139-6002 (it was a blue-dial version), and I really like the feel of it. I've definitely got my eyes open for a nice original early "Pogue".

Welcome aboard Dan and as others have commented, that's quite the Seiko you have there! Btw, there's a non-Japanese section on this forum where you can share yer gems. Looking forward to it!

Welcome Dan, and that’s a helluva way to start your Seiko collection! Looking forward to seeing your non-Jap vintag pieces as well to be honest, so post away!

Welcome Dan. My son just moved to Denver this past August.
That's a lovely 62MAS you scored. Congrats!
Enjoy your stay here . . . . plenty to learn and some great old Seikos to collect.
