Bought a big box of non running vintage watches and parts a number of years back.. So this evening I got the box out and had another look through what was in there.. Found two watches with 1686 calibre movements and a spare 1686 movement.. On closer examination, I noticed that the hairsprings were detached on two of them.. The balance and hairspring on my spare movement was intact.. So I swapped out the balance and hairspring and dropped it into this watch and it started ticking.. The watch didn't have a second hand so had another look through my parts and found one that matched reasonably well.. Cleaned the case and added strap.. Info on the 1686 calibre movement.. www.ranfft.de/cgi-bin/bidfun-db.cgi?10&ranfft&&2uswk&AS_1686In the box I also discovered a nice looking Osco that needs a new crystal and tinkering with the movement to get it going.. In the process I also discovered a German Sussex that is going but needs a caseback.. So all in all a great night of watch tinkering.. Cheers

That's a great looking dial, how accurately is it running?

That's a great looking dial, how accurately is it running? It looks to have gained around a minute overnight.. I haven't done any adjusting yet..
