Hello there and it's a pleasure to be here.
I came across this forum whilst I was searching for some more info on my newly acquired Seiko 6117-6010. I'm not a watch buff at all, but I was quite smitten by this watch and after I bought it, realised that I had no information on how to get it fixed. The seller told me that the watch is off by a minute or so and that it does require some cleaning, which after some research could mean absolutely anything.
Since I am Japanese, I did search for a Japanese watchmaker who could service it, but unfortunately, the only information I've garnered through this was that Japanese people like to have their watch buffed like new. On the other side of the world (Europe), there weren't that many places that deal with old Seiko watches.
Therefore I'm hoping I can find some information here on where I can have my watch serviced. If you have any recommendation, I would really appreciate it.

As you are in Berlin now if I have read your post correctly, I'd recommend GeorgeClarkson who is in Germany I think, maybe even Berlin? He's a top notch guy and won't polish your watch to death, you can check out youtube for some of his videos. I'd also recommend siralan and GuyJ to the mix who are both in the UK and both very good at servicing and sympathetic restoration of vintage Seiko. Oh, and welcome aboard!

Pip and Mr. Jones, thank you very much. I just contacted George and hopefully he will get back to me. Any idea where I can source the chapter ring for the 6117 6010? I did have a look through ebay and I couldn't find one. The only alternative are 1. restore the original chapter ring or 2. buy another one with an intact chapter ring?

View AttachmentKeep your eye on ebay as I’m sure they come up from time to time. Once you’ve got a few more posts under your belt here you can post a want ad in the sales section too. Edit- If you go to George he *may* be able to source one for you from somewhere or be able too improve your current one.

George Clarkson is definitely good choice. I sent my 7t34, 7a38 and a 7t32 to him a few years back and he is now repairing/servicing my 7a28-7040, 7a28-7029 and a 5t52 world timer. Your lucky to be so close to him. Post takes two weeks each way for me

Thanks everyone. Adding to the world timer, I am hoping to win the GS 5646 as well. I'm starting off slow with this Seiko thing.

And by the way, I cannot contribute anything in this forum other than translating or doing something related to Japanese. As I can read and write the language, if any of you need any help on anything Japanese, please let me know. I will be happy to help.

How to create a Japanese ID. account.edit.yahoo.co.jp/registration?.src=www&.done=https%3A%2f%2fwww.yahoo.co.jpThis will take you to the yahoo Japan ID creation page. 連絡用メールアドレス -Enter your email address. Best to use something that isn’t yahoo, but I’m sure yahoo email address from another country (ie yahoo.com) will work Yahoo Japan ID -Enter your new Yahoo Japan ID パスワード -Enter your password 郵便番号 -Enter your Japanese postal code. Just search for one online and use whichever one you want. Should be in this format XXX-XXXX All digits. No letters. 生年月日 -Your birth date. Just make one up but in this format XXX/XX/XX Just make sure you are over 21 years old. 名前 -Your name. You can change this whenever you want. 性別 -男性(Male) 女性(Female) その他(others) 回答しない(dont’ want to answer) Choose one お知らせメール -Uncheck this. You don’t want more junk mail. Tカード 持っている (you have one) 持っていない (you don’t have one), Choose that you don’t have one. Here is the problem. The security confirmation is only in Japanese. Therefore, if you need to register, you either need someone who is Japanese nearby or you can send me an email and if I am there at that moment, I can tell you what you need to write. Best is to PM me when you will do it and I can be online to tell you what to write or I will send you the correct answer in Japanese. Hope this helps.

Hi and welcome. I just bought a Japanese Domestic Watch Series book issued by Dragonfly Publishing 1996. It's vol. 2 covering the automatic caliber of the 60's and early 70's. I've tried to translate some of the text using google translate, and were thinking of sharing it here in the future. I think it might be of some interest as I have not found any scans/pictures online. Would you be able to translate some of the text if I publish pictures of the pages? Here is a page covering the 6117.
