I recently sold all My Watches and took the plunge into Vintage. these will be arriving within the next week.
6106-6439 x 2 6106-8440 6206-8980 8106-8440 Will be looking at getting them all serviced.
Couple of questions, What parts should I be looking for before sending off for servicing, Common known replacement parts.
Secondly why is the 6106-6439 rarer than the 6106-8440 when I have been told they are the same watch.
Looking forward to interacting with the group.

Depending on condition, crystals and gaskets are the most common replacement parts. Next would be hands, dials and bezel inserts(divers).
The two models of 6106 are completely different. It's true that they share the exact same movement but externally, they are not even close to looking similar. Use google images to see the differences.

My bad, I meant the 6106-6400 not 6106-8440
