Loved it since the first time I saw it, so what's keeping me from buying one?

Love the green dial, still on the fence about the handset.

How would the crown hit your wrist?
The gold markings with the silver case bother me but other than that, I love it.

Love the green dial, still on the fence about the handset. Agree - beautiful case, lovely dial (but would prefer batons to the rotated numerals), don't like the handset.

A lovely piece on anyone but me . . . the gold highlights keeps me away from it, the only exceptions being the Golden Tuna and one of those crappy 6159's . . . do you own any other watches in gold or with gold highlights Tim ?

I was always annoyed that this "Alpinist" didn't say "Alpinist" on the dial. WTF?

I like the dial but the hands look cheap & a bit busy to my eyes. Not mad about the crown guard either but beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

The differing preferences shown here illustrates the existence/necessity of a very wide variety of watches available.

I guess you guys pretty much have many of the reasons I have not purchased one, nicely done No Dawg, I do not own anything gold. Although I think green & gold go well together (GO PACK GO!), it's just not for me.

No, not a Stargate, I was speaking of the Alpinist in the OP. Stargates are still <$200ish.
