Had previously posted some long winded thing about showcasing my entire lot, but I think just the really solid keepers would be a better idea. (Somewhat in order of importance)
Seiko 6139-6002: Lovely yellow dial that I picked up very beat up from eBay. Could just make out the 2-piece seconds hand and really could only hope it said proof on the dial. But it did, and Simon did a beautiful job restoring and reluming this one. | Seiko 6139-6001: Another eBay guy, probably the closest thing to a barn find I've ever gotten. And another beautiful job from Simon restoring this back to the wrist time it deserves. Pretty sure it was this watch that really started the proof/proof/2-piece second hand hunt across the board. Something really beautiful about that combination. |
Seiko 6139-7012: Coffee and Cream. Absolutely love this dial. Sunburst in the right lighting, and I think my favorite 6139 case aswell. | Seiko 6139-7012: And the brother, the black dial to complete my set of 6139-7012's |
Seiko 6139-7010: *The* arabic numberal seiko chronograph, military vibes. Love this reference | Seiko 6138-3002: The Jumbo. Seem to go back and forth on whether this one is too big for my wrist. Kinda think that if I could snag an original bracelet this would be a keeper for sure... |
Seiko 6138-0049: The bullhead. Doesn't seem to get much wrist time, but it's definitely iconic 70's seiko to a T. | Seiko 6138-8039: John Player Special. Snagged this one off ebay advertised as a broken quartz watch. Very lucky find there |
Seiko 6139-6011: Was lusting after the brown -6010 for a good while and found a brown dial for sale on it's own. Had my black -6010 "converted" over. Felt a little funny about this one, but the dial needed a home. | Seiko 6139-6010: Beautiful dial on this one. I think without a doubt my favorite Seiko blue I've seen. Had a couple of these come and go, but definitely keeping at least one in the collection. |
Seiko 6139-6012: A different dial color, a sunburst mix between yellow and tan. Very cool. Also has a bit of sunburst on the subdial which is actually kinda hard to make out in person, but shows up in most of my pictures. | Seiko 6139-6015: One of my very few gold-tone watches. Actually has *almost* the exact same color dial as the last one, maybe a bit 'faded' out. Seem to see a lot of the two kinda frankensteined together TBH. Not surprising given how the gold tone case usually holds up. |
Seiko 4006-7010: Kinda dipped my toes in the water with this guy into both bellmatics and dress watches. (Definitely the first of the former, and I don't tend to do many of the latter.) Actually need to repolish the crystal on this one too, didn't realize I left him with a gnarly gash on the front. | Seiko 4006-7012: And again because 'sets' I picked up the gray dial ref of the last guy. This one actually came with the original bracelet, which was a godsend. Absolutely love the combination of the two. Still need to find another one though, been having to swap the bracelet between heads as I wear them. Not a fan of that. |
Seiko 6119-8140: Saw one of these pop up for some crazy price on ebay and kinda fell in love with it. Searched around for a couple months before I found one for a slightly more reasonable price. Still paid too much, but that's alright. | Seiko 6119-8140: The brother to the previous guy, and equally hard to photograph properly. Looks better in person On a modified Uncle Seiko bracelet cut to fit this REF. |
Seiko 5626-7040: First King Seiko and first chronometer grade dude. Again not a dress watch guy, but somehow this one really flipped that around. Could just be new-watch-love but we'll just have to see. Already been eyeballing the other color variants... Also not really sure if this is the original bracelet or not. None of the catalogs I could find showed this reference on bracelet. I believe it's period correct at least. Probably good enough for me. | Seiko 5626-8140: My second 5626 movement, picked up for a steal as the only bidder on the 'bay. A little smaller(as the previous one is too) but that's alright. On original bracelet aswell, with a pretty large bracelet extension tacked on at the end. |
Seiko 4006-6027: A more recent addition. First non-dressy bellmatic. Really dig the cushion shaped case and rotating count-up bezel. Also really need to find another one of these speidel bracelets, absolutely sold this watch on it. Couldn't get used to the flat OEM style one. | Seiko 4006-6021: And the brother, 2 out of the 3 down, still need to find a nice black dial to sort out the whole set. |
Seiko 4006-7020: Kinda got the bug for 27j bells, which prompted this pair to come up. Very similar to the -7010's, with a different case shape. | Seiko 4006-7020: Still floating the idea of moving them along just based on how similar they are to the 4006-7010, but haven't quite made that tipping point yet |
