My Arnie needs some tweaking. The final result after the months trial is +10 from datum, so that’s +9 overall. I suppose 2sp week isn’t too bad but I’m sure I can trim it some.

camrok - is today the end of the challenge, or Tuesday 7th? I’m out of the running so it doesn’t matter, but I’m away from home next week so will just post my end results later today.

Officially tomorrow 7th May will be the end. But there were a few who started a bit later so it will be a month after your submission. I will be tagging people and reminding them from tomorrow on.

I haven't been faithful to the challenge since I did not wear this once in the last 2 weeks (was out of town!), however, +13 for this one. Will definitely have to look into regulating.

It’s show and tell. The month long quartz challenge is ending and it’s time to show all your results. I’d like to thank everyone who has submitted and the spreadsheet will remain live. My results are in with the tissot seatouch (although it started and finished 1 min out... oops) The Arnie, 7a38, 7546 a citizen duplex finished up second. My Casio dive was worse followed by my pulsar 754x I have a prize of a Casio AD770 within Aust. or winners choice between a Digital Casio or Analog Swatch.

So, since I’m away from tomorrow for the week I’ll update a few hours early. My Seiko 7123 entry ended up +14 so not in the hunt. The worst performer was my 21st birthday gift Michel Herbelin ETA 955.414 at +34 (so much for Swiss accuracy 🤣). Coming in as the best performers, excluding my Bulova UHFs, were the following - SII-powered Casio VX43E, Lorus Sports VX43, Pulsar VD78 all at -1 second, and a Miyota 9U13 powered Bulova Aerojet also at -1 second. These were joined by a little Pulsar V532 running at +1 second. The Bulova UHFs performance was overall somewhat disappointing, with only one remaining bang on-time, with the others ranging from +1 to +3. Considering this was only over a month, I’d have expected them to all have been within a second. My solar collection did not too bad, with my Seiko V175 Prospex diver coming in at +6 and the Citizen Eco-Drives ranging from +2 to +13, the best performer being the B877 Nighthawk. My 5M84 Kinetic quartz conversion ended up at +4, which is quite pleasing! One of the Bulova collection seems to have had some issue - the Miyota 6P29 - as it’s waaaaay off. Maybe time for a battery change... Here’s the photographic evidence. Apologies for the quality of some of the pictures, but trying to capture the seconds hand adequately to see the accuracy ain’t easy. The two wrist shots came about when I was picking tomorrow’s watch, and I realised I hadn’t shuffled them into the group shots 😀 I’ve really enjoyed this, as I’ve never really checked the accuracy of my quartz collection before except the UHFs (and that’s just out of interest). Usually, I just strap them on and adjust the date if needed. If they’re way off, I reset them, but I usually only do anything when the clocks change. What have I learned? Well, my best performers were generally cheap as chips - the Lorus Sports VX43 and Casio VX43E were both under £30. The Pulsar VD78 had a new movement fitted a couple of months ago, as the old one was literally eating batteries. So the cheap SII movements seem to do very well! Thanks for running this camrok 👍🏻 I’ve updated the ‘end accuracy’ column in the spreadsheet by the way.

The initial tally on 7/5 is a tie @aussiemax with his beater orient at +2 and kue with his vintage Longines at -2 EXPENSIVE SWISS VS CHEAP JAPANESE!!!!! Reply here with your results. Easiest to stick your photo here. I can update the spread sheet or if you like just pop your end +\- time in column j.

The Citizen Solar Crystron is exactly 1 second ahead of control. Just checking at the original record, I had it as starting on time (I previously incorrectly thought it had started 0.5 ahead), so it has gained 1 second over the recording period.

Okay for the record. I did get the speedy 7a28 worn most Saturdays to Sunday don't think I missed though might not have been full 24 hours. It was my official entry. The 5y got at least three days in maybe four but it wasn't on a set day of the week. Casio was worn at least twice. Results and if I get the chance I'll update the excel, 7A28 +8.5 seconds, the 5Y22 gained 5.5-6 and the Casio AE1200 gave up 10. I noticed the date was off the 5y but didn't want to disturb it once it was sync'd.

Not sure if we needed to post on the 7th after posting on Sunday, but here is my entry, still holding 2 seconds fast.

Based on my initial +9.1 seconds reading, I'm now at +7.7ish seconds after a month. Perfectly acceptable, given this movement is rated to +5 seconds per month when new. Thanks for coming up with and organising such an awesome comp, Cam.

7C43 and 7A28 serviced recently (less than 4 months ago) everything else service history unknown. I initially synced on time.gov but posting pictures from clock.zone because i like that it shows the nano seconds. I think both servers are pretty much in sync (maybe half a sec difference at most) So looking back at my first post, Started: 7A28 -1 Tuna +0 7A38 +0 7T62 -2 7C43 +0

Thanks camrok for organising this challenge. I never given much thought to quartz before this and thought they were accurate to 1-2secs a month. I now realised that they have as much variation as mechanicals and a few more quartz watches have appeared in my collection.

acidstain am I correct in interpreting your result as no deviation on your 7c43? If so GuyJ you may have a few incoming. I know I have one that’s destined for your workshop when you have time.

Okay, last day of the challenge - date is one off as I didn't touch it (that's why we should do this in months with 31 days... It's off by 18.7 seconds now. That's 0.6 s fast per day. As the rest of the contenders were added a few days later, I'll add them when the month is over for them.

It does seem that way. Just to be clear, i did only wear it enough for the challenge. So when i go for my Sunday errands, i wear the 7c43 for a few hours, then take it off once at home. Not sure how much effect minimal wearing is to accuracy. I also think there should be a little bit more variance there. I did start with a different time server, and if i recall i started trying to take a picture when the “server ticks”. Towards the end i realize i like clock.zone more due to the partial seconds, and i realize it’s better to take a picture when the “watch ticks”. Overall, even with the small variances, accuracy seems to be within a second (or less). I’ll keep posting weekly updates for the 7c43 and see how it goes for another month.

I never gave it much thought, but i was under the impression I don’t even have to fix the time unless there was a battery change.
