Hi, newbie looking for some advice. I recently bought a great 6105 homage which is pretty much perfect but I also have lots of parts I’d like to use to make a spare one (see photo). I’ve got the case and crystal, a couple of dials to choose from and hands. I know I need case back, nh35a movement, spacer ring, crown and stem but anything else I will need? Will I need a stem extender as the case is wider? Photo attached of the parts I have plus photo of my bought 6105 homage. Thanks in advance. Attachments:

It's either a genuine Seiko 6105 or it's a fake. An homage would not have 'SEIKO' on the dial unless the watch is na assembly of Seiko parts; in which case it would be a franken-Seiko

I bought a Sharkey and installed an AM Seiko dial. Came out nice.
But I sold it, my inner WIS couldn't embrace it.

Hi all, yes homage is the wrong word. I should have said ‘inspired’ as I know a lot of people take offence at the word homage being used.
Love the above - has that been relumed? Looks awesome. 👍

I did something similar with a 7548 case, fitted a Seikosis 6105 Proof dial and hands along with the 7548 quartz movement. A very nice grab and go which is always spot on time

considering the costs now of antique 6105's or the exhorbitant cost of the re-issue, i understand the need for this watch very much. seiko could be putting out a $500 6105 re-issue and i'd buy one and everyone else would too, but seiko is not interested in that, so f@&% them, make the best homage that you can....i think it's pretty well done, and more difficult than we realize.
i have the choice between a really damaged old 6105 or a dagaz typhoon or similar, this looks like the best option for me. but i still don't know if i want to do it....
and the art historian in me wants to dull down that red on the seconds hand. if it went pinker, it would grate a lot less...

I have a Dagaz Typhoon and actually dont really like it and it seldom gets worn. Although it initially looks very similar in shape to a 6105, somehow it feels very different and just doesnt match the great shape and feel of the original 6105.
I was lucky to pick up some 'junk' 6105 divers some years back, or at least at the time they were viewed as junk, and they are all up and running nice now. I just cant get over the stupid price being asked for 6105 divers these days.

i had a dagaz typhoon, and it's a nice watch in it's own right, but it's clunky compared to a 6105, that extra mm of depth really shows up. the dials on the sharkey are really, really ugly, so i feel seikosis is providing a real service to people who want the feel of a 6105 but lack the funds. i seriously doubt that anyone with a seikosis dial is attempting to fool anybody, they just can't afford the outlandish price of a real 6105, and i can sympathize.

I have 6105-8000 but wouldn´t go near water. Having a "hommage" to swim safely with would be nice.

Having a "hommage" to swim safely with would be nice. You can check out the SMITHS 200m Automatic Diver PRS-68. I think they're a great homage to the 6105. Nice quality build parts. It has a Miyota in a Seiko homage It can definitely go in water for swimming. They're sold out but I like this one the best.

For a swimmable 6105 'homage' grab a used Sharkey aka 10 other fake names like LTL, etc. for $150 or less on ebay.
I got a brand new "Detroit Mint" 6105 faker for $135 in its original wooden box and all that. I have no idea what possessed me but I did and I must say it's a great candidate to become a beater.

With the help from the man who made the post above, I made this RDHC Willard. It is featuring a “junk” real 6105-8110 dial with a lot missing but, it made the build kinda fun and frustrating at the same time.

Seiko has released numerous 6105 type reissues in that price range. Here’s one I bought next to my genuine 6105-8000. It lists for $525 but I got a slightly used one with box and papers for $250. I have seen these sold new in box for $350. There are many other references with different styles and colors. Now, the Capt. Willard reissue is more expensive than the others, but the point is that Seiko is trying to address this enthusiasm for the case shape and style and making affordable and modern reissues for it. Mine is an awesome watch and keeps about 5 seconds per week. It hacks and manually winds as well.

As you can see, on the Land Tortoise on the right they moved the crown to 4:21 to allow the same date dial but move down under the pur 4:00 of the original, much more pleasing to those who are annoyed by the 3:!8 crown location (I am not one of them ! )

New case with genuine SEIKO vintage dial and hand set. What is not to love about this one ? Just superb ! Your re-lume job was amazing. I know you spent countless hours getting the date wheel alignment spot-on with some top shelf ingenuity and the overall package inspires me to do the same. Major Congratulations !
