The black DLC shrouds for the Tuna wannabes are in. I asked him for pricing and will update this once I hear back.

I like it, but the silver lugs look a bit out of place IMO.

That is an amazing mod but given that it started out (IIRC) as a 6309-7040, it's not something the average Joe can undertake.

He may have done something with a 6309-7040 but the thread is about converting the same base watch as yours. He provides a side by side comparison of the before and after. I have to agree; mods like what he did to the case are beyond most of us

Dig the look and Harold's shrouds go a looooong way in making it better, but I can't get past the bezel font :-(

Are these watches a thing now? I've been asleep at the switch. What are they? When? Where?

These are the SRP divers with the rubber shroud...the baby tuna as they are called. Harold makes stainless and coated shrouds for them which make them beefier and more like their big brothers.

I guess I'm left cold by the Monster-ish rotating ring - never took to the Monsters. Interesting that they chose a sort-of 6159 handset. I'd need to see one in person.

Word has it that Harold has a replacement bezel in the works. It will be similar in form and function to the skx series bezels. It will accept any factory or aftermarket bezel insert with a 38mm diameter.
ive stayed away from these due in part to the monster styled bezel and plastic shroud. Now that stainless & pvd shrouds have come available I'm starting to warm up to the possibilities in regards to modding to taste.....but then I sat back and did the math on it. The watches were selling for $200 range now I see that they've gone up to + $300 then factor in $85 for the new shroud and at least another $100 for a new bezel & insert.....suddenly you find yourself within striking distance to a true Tuna. I suppose the feelings towards the SRP series are mixed.... Members on fixed budgets may go towards them knowing that they can piece together a tuna styled watch over time. While purists will almost always prefer owning an actual 7549 or 7C46 based tuna. personally, I fall into the latter of those groups. If I'm spending that kinda coin on a watch, preference will always guide me to purchase the real McCoy.

Hey Shawn and Spencer,
I can't tell you how much I love mine. I don't mind the bezel font . . . it is a bit modern but it doesn't phase me . . . I also don't mind the font on the Sumo.
It's a VERY substantial watch . . . hacks and hand winds. I'd be willing to bet a cold one that you'll love the watch.
