Hello, fellow forumites,
I dipped my toe in the watch world recently after picking up an SKX-039J, purportedly for my son, but then it ended up living on my wrist. As I began to research this amazing watch I learned more about Seiko history and design and my interest was piqued. Since that day in ancient history - in January of this year! - I've acquired a few more killer Seikos: 1) a mint-condition 2205-0769 diver for my wife, sourced from Northern Italy that came with a vintage Inox Tropic Sport rally strap; 2) a 6309 diver from 1977, which Duarte at NEWW has given a once-over and which is being worked on now by Frank at Seiko Time Zone in Costa Mesa; 3) a 6139 diver that is likewise being repaired by the seller, after we discovered the inner bezel gear wasn't engaging the bezel and turning it. Only my wife's watch is mint. In the world of vintage bikes, where I regularly post on a couple forums, the trueism is to get or build your significant other a nicer bike than your nicest bike, and they'll tolerate your vice.
In the real world I work in civil legal aid and parent a couple of hellions. It's not a bad life.
Would like for the 6309 or 6139 to have been better working. The latter was from a forum, and I'm happy the seller is standing behind his sale and fixing the problem. It speaks well of forums as communities, not just marketplaces.
All best!

Brooklyn's in the house! Welcome to the forum! I'm in Jersey now, but started my stint in the tri-state area on Staten Island. Looking forward to pics of the 6309 and the 6139.

Enjoy your time on the boards. Oh . . . . might as well buy another watch box now . . . . resitance is futile!
