Hello, just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Brent. I'm 45, married with two kids (late teenagers) and I live in NE Oklahoma. I joined recently after doing a little reading up on vintage Seikos. This forum was mentioned in a couple of articles I read and I thought I'd check it out. I've got other hobbies, such as firearms, cars, etc. and I wasn't really setting out to pick up another, but here I am. OCD strikes again, as my wife might say. I've always "liked" watches and have had a number of cheap quartz examples over the years. But as I get older, I find myself gravitating to older "things" that are of good quality at a good value. My other hobbies are the same. After reading up on a few of the many different Seiko automatics that were made in the 60s, 70s, and 80s, I thought I'd take a look on eBay and see what was out there. Holy smokes, what a rabbit hole! So much to dig through and so much more to learn. After a bit, I threw a $25 bid out for a middle of the road 6309 that was in India. I knew it was a bit of a gamble, but nothing that was going to hurt if it turned our badly. I got it for $22 shipped and it showed up 10 days later. Just wanted to get my feet wet. It's not great and has lots of patina, but I have enjoyed wearing something (for the last few days) with a little history to it. Who knows, maybe it's even fake. Like I said, I have a lot to learn. It came with the cheapest of bands that I didn't trust, so I threw this old strap on it. There will be others, in fact I purchased another on eBay before I even got this one in the mail. I quickly found the 6139s/6138s in my research. Did I mention OCD? Anyways, I look forward to reading more on this forum in the future. Thanks,Brent

Welcome Brent.
That one looks legit and for $22 you can't go wrong. Worst case, you tear it apart and try to put it back together.
Fellow car buff here . . . . muscle cars to be precise.
Enjoy your stay here at the Sushi bar.

Welcome, you checked off many on my list of OCD's, cars, bike, firearms, watches....
I think you did fine on that one from India, be careful though research first as many are flamboyant redials...Many have fake case backs...I rebuilt two for a coworker. If going down the rabbit hole you decide you want to try your hand at servicing THIS is the place to come for help. Use the search and there's a good thread on servicing a 6309. Many a post on which tools to get started with (another rabbit hole) which oils etc.
I buy just about anything that's cheap, commonly referred to as "Lunch Money". I've back off on my 6309 buying (except for the 715X references) and have concentrated on the 7009's

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone.
Got a notification that DHL dropped off purchase #2 today. It's a 6139-7101 in black and I look forward to opening it up tonight.

#2 showed up as scheduled. It’s as described. Not as cheap as that first one though. I don’t think I knew to look for the case polishing before I pulled the trigger.
