I tried on the SRPD55K1 the other day at a local AD. I was quite impressed with it overall with the exception of the bracelet - compared to the SRP77x series it felt quite flimsy and a little ‘cheap’. I was underwhelmed by the new ‘5’ logo when I first saw it but, in the flesh, it’s actually quite cool - and it’s nice to see it on the rotor as well. Bezel action was silky-smooth.
They also had the SRPD87 in stock - blue dial on NATO. Now, if they had had the SRPD51 in stock - blue dial on bracelet - I might have been tempted, especially as the store was offering 25% off full price watches (RRP is £250). That said, I’d already spent more than enough in previous days...

I agree with the bracelet part. That's why it doesn't feel as heavy as it looks. It looks nice, but a bit flimsy as you say. But it is definitely wearable. I have the exact same bracelet on another watch of much higher quality and weight that I paid $45.00 and purchased HERE. I can always purchase that one. Or, get a nice tan, distressed vintage, beefy leather band. Or even a nice quality tan NATO. But for now, I'll wear as is.

Congrats the SRPD71 is the one I am most interested in. Love those vintage creamy yellow hour markers, much like the SRPC49.
Congrats are in order.

It was either the one I got, or the SRPD75K1 which is the green dial and bezel. But it appeared a little too olive for me in the pictures I saw. Didn't feel comfortable purchasing it. I would have to see it in the flesh. The blue is very nice and vintage looking; exactly what I was after. They did a nice job in capturing an old look. Plenty of different styles to suit anyone's fancy.

On the wrist the bracelet is actually quite nice and the clasp is very sturdy and snaps tight. Feels great. Looks snazzy and balances well on the wrist with the weight of the watch. A real throwback Seiko bracelet. There’s no taper to it and it’s not overwhelmingly thick on my smaller wrist. A definite difference between holding it and wearing it. I take back upgrading the bracelet in my previous post. Although swapping in a nice vintage leather strap or NATO is definitely in the mix.
EDIT: To be honest I'm really enjoying the balance and weight on the wrist (as stated) compared to my Monster that I wore this morning which felt like I'm wielding an unruly battle axe since I wear my bracelets slightly loose. Not too shabby!

That’s really nice, I quite like the new 5 logo and like Nick am pleased to see it on the rotor.

Insanely bright lume and the inner bezel glows too. Lollipop end of the seconds hand as well. Very cool 😎

Are the hour and minute hands flat (as compared to round on the SKX)?
If they are flat I see a mad rush of people ordering them from the parts suppliers to put on their 6309's especially if the lume has an "aged" look from the factory.
Someone better buy a bunch now and throw them up on Ebay and list them as "original" 6309 hands and send ME my 10% cut for making YOU rich.
Jus' sayin'

I would love to put some nice "period correct" hands or ones that match the dial and look the part on my "bought from the original owner who was kid on holiday with his family in Hong Kong" who bought the watch during my birth month but 15 years later looking back I am glad I kept it all original.
SKX hands have rounded frames along the outer edges and the inner edges by the lume.
Not the best pics but the only ones I could find on file.

Hanji?
2 completely different watches.
At "work" there is another inside running joke about the "sweats" usually the "Meat Sweats" when the one to the right sits down for lunch with the yellow bag with enough food for 5 people but he is the only one there.
It seems you are suffering from the ToFu sweats
You need to suffer up and get some meat to get you centered.
I suffer through it every weekend to keep me centered and the old me in check

I would have liked to see sharper case lines where the lugs meet the sides. Does that mean that the case is not the same as the SKX's, which has distinct case-lines in the place that you mention?

That is a handsome watch. If I squint the 5 looks like the old suwa symbol on a vintage piece. Beautiful.

SEIKO started producing 6309 hands again a few years ago and you can buy them new. These hands seem to be a satin finish which wouldn't work on a 6309. Are the hour and minute hands flat (as compared to round on the SKX)?

SEIKO started producing 6309 hands again a few years ago and you can buy them new. I picked up a pair from you for my 6309-7049 and they are perfect. The fact that Seiko made them exact makes me feel they are not "aftermarket". Some might disagree but I like them so much I don't care what others might opine.
