Well, the stigma that it is not the original is there... but who cares.... the other would put me back one grand. With all honesty, looking at how costly the Swiss are now both in acquisition and in repairs, my recommendations for anyone that has an older Swiss watch that is in need of service, throw the watch away and save some cash.

Nah, don't toss it...just find someone else to service it. Yep. IMHO, in watch servicing, as in automobile servicing, "factory-authorized" service will always be higher, and not necessarily better, than service from an independent.
