Hi Guys I recently got into Seiko's and ended up with a Seiko 5 (6309a) Ebay special, made with whatever they had in the toolbox. I bought it to start learning how to service and carry out minor repairs myself, but id like to do something a bit different with it. I refinished the case with a brush finish and polished up the bezel. Not seen an awful lot of other mods done with the dress style so thought i'd ask you guys for some ideas ? Thanks in advance www.flickr.com/photos/154536720@N02/49464068078/in/dateposted-public/

Change hands and dials should be pretty easy, if you have already serviced it yourself. I am a fan of the 6309 "dress" watch as you put it. I actually don't think of yours or what I sport, as being Dressy though. more everyday casual IMO. If it were me I tried to find a sterile dial and see how that changes the look. Just make sure you find a dial that is date at 3 crown at 3. I'm not sure if dials for the 7XXX series watches will work on the 6309, there you have any more options...If they're the same one guy whose dials I like is. You lose the day portion of the movement, and I've begged him to start making day/date dials, but that has fallen on deaf ears. ajuicet.com/product-category/dials/

I was thinking a dial and hand change, I like the milgauss mods people do so if I can find a dial that looks similar and then pick up the milgauss hands somewhere, that might be an option.

well i love these style of watches they are over looked and not really considered dress watches they are perfect everyday watches that can be found reasonably priced too if it were me...why not find some seiko factory dial which are always for sale cheap and play around with them just remember you need ones with 3pm crown or you will need to remove the pins and use dial dots or i have seen replacement pins with adhesive as well...i would love to try them and see how well they work please keep us informed with pics of your progress God Bless,John i personally love to see innovation and use other Seiko parts in different cases... they get a second life
