I'm bored. There's no sports to talk about. I need competition d@^n it! Found an auction for a really beautiful 62Mas on Yahoo JP: (LIVE LINK REMOVED)
that will end this upcoming Sunday. Who wants to play a Price-Is-Right-style game to guess the final bid price in Japanese Yen? Rules: The bid closest to the ending price of the auction without going over is the winner. Prize: WristSushi love and respect. Let's have some fun!

I'll start. My bid is 270,000 JPY. If it weren’t this annoying “thing” that bugs us all...and if I knew how to bid on Yahoo JP auctions... I would have bid this much! ... my guess is it will exceed that amount significantly... therefore my take is: 395000 JPY

Let me guess... ¥350,000. And all that with a service/replacement handset. Sheesh

The good news I dropped in a nice big photo so we can all see that beauty before making our final value guess.
The bad news I had to remove the live link. We all know why, there could very easily be a member who is serious about it and that's not fair to him. I myself have been there in that situation over on TheWatchShite and it made me crazy.

I won't hazard a guess but I will say the prices on ebay since the big market crash have been in the dirt.
My guess is you'll be surprised at a low final value.

Someone will try to snipe with 4 seconds to go, realize they're outbid, and in a frantic 2.5 second panic state bid higher and will overpay for it.

So, will someone pay $3800US or even $6300Aud for this watch on any other market place? I'd love to get the prices that people pay on JP Yahoo!
As for the final price 270000yen

While in good conn (hands aside) I might side with Jon on this. Recent sales have shown early divers selling for under their weight.
265000 JPY

Those were my thoughts exactly. A 62Mas with a case and dial in this condition would've easily gone for over 400,000 last year, but given the recent market contraction it seems like a lot of the references that had become a bit "speculative" in their pricing (vintage Rolex, modern SS sport models, vintage Grand Seikos/62Mas) have really taken a hit on the secondary market. The prices of these references had gotten way out of hand anyway, so it was only a matter of time before the bubble burst. Will be interesting to see where this one ends up, and perhaps my guess is a bit low, but I don't think it's going to draw the 400,000-500,000 yen that it would've back at the height of the vintage dive watch craze of the last two years.

Hey, how did you figure out my secret Yahoo JP Auctions bidding strategy? lol Seriously though, that's the reason I set a snipe bid about 12 hours before an auction ends and don't come back until it's over. I decide what price I'm willing to pay with a clear head and then go about my day. I don't want the rational part of my brain to go out the window and pay 50% more than I thought a watch was worth all because I was caught in a bidding war with some other irrational internet stranger.

Haha, that is what I do as well. Zenmarket allows you to set a 'sniper bid' six minutes before the auction ends (because of automatic extension if it is a bid within the last five minutes). I do that a couple of hours before the end and don't come back before it is finished...
...most of the times only to find that my bid wasn't placed at all because the price was already higher at that time or even more often to find I've been outbid by 30¥.
Back to topic: 300,120¥
