Zenmarket today posted an update from Japan Post:
Yikes! I have pretty much stopped shopping on YJ. It is getting really, really hard to get anything out of Japan nowadays. And I sure as hell ain't dealing with DHL again.

They did, but for the life of me I can't find it anymore. The duties themselves were about $59, which is around what I was expecting. But I think I also had to pay Washington's internet sales tax, and there was a bunch of bullsh!t tacked on by DHL as well.
Never. Again.

Sounds like a bunch of BS indeed. Well, at least your shipment arrived safe and sound. And now you've learned a (literally) valuable lesson: Never use DHL.

This really sucks. I'm ok risking a beater or a donor sitting somewhere for weeks, but something quite a bit more expensive? Dang, not sure I will take the risk, which is a bummer. I've seen some decent buys on YJ.

You don't need to avoid YJ forever, but perhaps it's best to refrain from making international purchases until the world returns to normal and EMS is back up and running.

Oh, I've been using EMS for years, never a problem (except that one time, when I bought a golden tuna and the package had a massive piece of the corner missing, was really surprised the watch was still in there) Right now, though , I really have second thoughts about expensive purchases because of the shipping. (Passed on a fairly affordable Scubapro) Rob

That's how the Golden Tuna arrived, btw. Heart sunk, and I started building my case, taking photos, expecting the worst. Rob

I won't stop shopping on buyee.jp or YJ. I'm just holding off now because of the situation at hand. My SKX011J still hasn't moved.

I'm in the US. My package has been in Tokyo since March 31st. Same here with JapanPost... I've got two of them saying "shipped" from Osaka on the 31st but they aren't, really. They're still there. Should have had them ship the packages sooner! Luckily I didn't pay for "fast" shipping.. Still no change, besides the updated verbiage on their site saying that JapanPost isn't shipping to the US for the time being. Still no idea where my watches are, just "Shipped" from Osaka on March 31st. I take it that if they were returned to Buyee (that's who I bought through) they'd at least be marked "returned to sender" on the tracking page... Well, it'll be a surprise when they finally (hopefully) show up, I guess!

Not related to watches, but I ordered a book from Spain and as I need it quickly I used DHL Express. Well, that was Monday, and it was supposed to be here yesterday. Today I checked tracking and it was in Cincinnati, Ohio. Contacted DHL and they said sorry, it is now in its way to you. Let’s see how long it takes! Of course delivery times are apparently NOT part of the transport contract, so they can basically say any delays are fine, and you can’t really do anything about it.

I ordered a Tech2 clone from Ebay to sort some things out with my '04 Saab. I ordered it on the 16th from a "US seller", and it was supposed to be here on the 24th. It just arrived today...from HONG KONG. Not too mad about that...COVID is wreaking havoc all over the world.
But what I am mad about is the fact that DHL beat the shit out of it!! God, I fcukin' hate these guys!!

Just a quick update after waiting almost 3 week for my watch from YJ stuck at Japan post, the item was update to sent and I receive the item few days later. I subsequently bought another 2 watch and the item was sent out without much delay. I guess they are slowly returning back to normal. I also usually use registered small package (AIR). It is just 1-2 day slower than EMS and is cheaper.

Keep us posted! Would you believe that today I was checking the mail and... Well, a lot has changed since mid-March but ONE OF THEM ARRIVED! It's a "Joyful" (no really, that's the line) 2623-0010 (QQH022), from 1978 according to the serial number. It looks great, and she loves it! I believe the bracelet is original as well, and solid links, to boot. A nice surprise! Now I checked the tracking info and it turns out it stayed in Osaka from 3/31 to 5/22 (!). I'll see if tracking information has been updated for the other one, it can't be far behind.
