I got it the cheapest I've ever seen at Macy's with their online "we're getting Coronavirus ravaged, please buy anything" sale. I had an additional $10 in Macy's Money which I was able to knock off.
They stayed true to the original and I love that they didn't cram a date feature on it. They only went 1.5mm larger than the original to 40mm and 14.5mm thick. Aesthetically, the recreation looks near identical. Tropic soft, pliable rubber strap on deployment with signed buckle (that I am swapping for a vintage black as well as a straight end link beads of rice bracelet), signed crown, brushed lugs, polished sides, brushed case back, polished pushers, 200m depth rating, sapphire crystal (unlike original), and powered by a Miyota Caliber 6S21-00A quartz chronograph movement. The bezel glides tightly without a click and the pip glows as do the middle of the hour markers. Bulova also has this watch currently in an automatic on a bracelet in limited edition (all the way on the left in the picture below) but the price is insane.
The orange version that I have (my favorite color) is priced higher on the gray market compared to the others. I chose orange also because I have the Blue Devil diver homage that was reissued. It makes for nice variety. I got my surfboard for under $400.00. I think it'll be fun for the summer and funky grab and go quartz in the mornings. It really popped when I saw it and I love vintage. Bulova has done a decent job with their iconic reissues.
You'll se some lint from the watch pillow. No scratches. Photos are 2x zoomed.
Here are my two reissues on vintage style tropic rubber rally straps. No zoom in the photos. Very comfy and sets them off nicely. The blue strap makes the Devil Diver pop and the Surfboard has a very dark blue center (shaped like a surfboard!) and the bezel insert is a slightly darker blue as well so the black sets it off. Wrist shot no zoom. You can see the darker hue of blue in natural light with no sun. Hence the black strap choice.

I always liked those and missed out back in the early days of Ebay back when they were cheap because $75 was about 5X my budget for 1 watch.
Which subdial is the constant seconds?
Is the constant seconds smooth like the Precisionist models?

The originals are awesome. It's why I really liked this one because of how close it is in appearance to the old skool one. Bulova made some nice vintage pieces and to get the reissues in either a Miyota automatic or quartz for sub $400 is a decent deal.
The chapter on the right is the constant seconds and it ticks, not sweep. The chrono hand too ticks but when you stop and reset, the hand nicely glides clockwise back to 12 o'clock.
I've been wearing it all evening, and on the tropic, it molds perfectly to the wrist and nicely balanced. As much as I love orange, the tropic it came on (nice construction and flexibility) was a bit too cartoonish for my taste.

Nice. I'm liking those, especially the dark blue...
Also a fan of the Bulova reissues, have the Stars & Stripes, and a Devil Diver is on the "want" list.

I've been waiting for this reissue. Bulova has been doing this archive series proper.

My old schooler says hi. So awesome! Fantastic watch. I just love them. Maybe one day I'll sell off a few watches and use the money towards one. Congrats on that beauty.
