Actually its been so long ago I don't remember but I bought something like 30 watches and parts in a lot, 15 pounds thereabouts. One day I actually took the time too start sorting all the different pieces out. Pallet Forks, Pallet Cocks, Balance Cocks, springs, bridges, balance wheels etc etc. I snapped a few pics of what I mean. I originally thought I'd list then on eBay with a number under each. You could then ID from the picture what you might need. I wouldn't do it for the money just so people could have a part the needed. Only there are hundreds of these little things in 10# of parts. I have moved the box back and forth several times, I can't bring myself to toss the parts...but the effort I'd have to put in besides just sorting them would be enormous. Anyone have any idea rather then maybe just sell the individual parts in lots? Pallet forks in one, cocks in another, settling levers, etc etc? These are just a select few I pulled from the box....maybe I should have shot a photo of the box but you can imagine.

Unless you can actually identify the movement each part belongs to it's going to be difficult to sell them individually. If I had them I'd gift them to my local watchmaker in case there is anything he can use - it never hurts to have a watchmaker who might like to do you a favour down the track.

Thanks tritto I think you'll remember when I went all in on these and you said I was nuts. I did end up with a good watch or two out of the lot so not a total loss. The thing is there isn't a good way to I.D. any of the parts. Some of the setting levers look so similar to Swiss movements I have worked on but I'm no expert as to which movement. I'd hoped originally that people for a $1 would give the listing a once over see a part or two that resembled what they were after and would give it a try...the pallet forks I thought I could give dimensions but that too would be pretty tedious work and if you didn't know what size you actually needed... I think I'll keep sorting as time permits and then offer them up in lots of X#/bag. I have seen a Cousins and a few other that sell bags of springs and such without any details I imagine it gives the buyer a "stock" so he might get lucky...The key here is going to be the sorting...

I am in a different but somehow similar boat.
Over the years in parts lots I've collected miscellaneous parts in their original packages with Seiko numbers and all that but not inclined to figure out what they fit and how to move on. I can't be bothered to sell 50 parts at say $3 each nor to have a junk parts lot sale no one could be expected to be able to need more than one or two of them in a lifetime of repairs.
But if someone needs one of them I'd like to get it to them.
Maybe create a WristSushi free parts section?
