Whilst sweeping the carpet around the workbench earlier on, hunting for the setting lever off a 6139A movement, I managed to find this little lot - Amazing what you lose and then find again, months later!

Blimey! Did you find the setting lever though... Yes I did, thankfully. Nowhere near where I was looking though - it had bounced about 3 feet from the bench

I haven't swept a carpet since I left the army, but bass brooms and watch parts are uncomfortable bedfellows, in both senses!!

Good stuff. I'd imagine if you broadened your search pattern you might find some spring bars from previous launches!

I knew an elderly woman who worked for Engelhard in New Jersey many decades ago. Security used to check everyone’s finger nails after the shift cause workers would scrape their nails they grew long in the soft gold to take home and accumulate

Security used to check everyone’s finger nails after the shift cause workers would scrape their nails they grew long in the soft gold to take home and accumulate Engelhard...there's a blast from the past and recent. When in business we manufactured wind tunnel models and some from ceramic onto which was painted strain sensing stripes using Englehard's liquid gold. Basically it was gold in a vehicle which when heated would evaporate off leaving the gold in situ. The bottles sat on a shelf for 20 years until last year when I was discussing, with 'er indoors, the hand made glass and ceramic work one of her girlfriends did....ohhhh I have something she might like to use. The long story short, she had not used this liquid before in her work because of its cost so I gave her both bottles. She now produces some excellent pieces with gold painted aspects.

Been there done that. Lost a 6139 stem gear and yes it was in the vacuum bag when done I couldn't believe that it worked. Still it was a gross process to sift though the collected stuff.

So I just launched a 6139 chrono spring into the abyss of no return. Nooooooooo!! However this time I saw the vicinity where he leapt to. With a trusty flashlight on all fours I stumbled upon him under here amongst cat hair and ancient dust. Vacuuming now.

I bought one of those big magnetic sweepers for picking up screws and stuff from garage floors for mechanics. Found parts for me on several occasions so must have paid for itself now a few times over.

I bought one of those big magnetic sweepers for picking up screws and stuff from garage floors for mechanics. Found parts for me on several occasions so must have paid for itself now a few times over. After a new roof was put on my house, the workers walked up and down the driveway with a bush-broom-shaped-looking-tool with wheels. It had a long magnet and picked up old nails so you don't get a flat tire. I asked if I could do it like a little kid partly because it was cool to hear them clink up on the magnet and mostly to ensure it was done thoroughly so I didn't get a flat on my Pirelli low profile tires. After it rained hard, all the nails in the gutters spewed out of the down spouts back onto the driveway. No magnet that time, just a broom and my eyeballs.

That sounds like my thingy exactly. It’s annoying when you get a bit ping that’s not ferrous though 🤣 Luckily pings are much fewer these days although from time to time, especially when I’m tired...

Aloha , I had a Idea before when starting this work. I found a nice Plexi-Glass nice clear box so I cut two holes into one side and and cut two more on .....Opposite Sides and got some ......Light Latex Rubber Gloves and made ...Lip's on the edges to use ... Rubber Bands to hold them. That made my beginner's work very worthy to have and I still have it here in a Box to keep it and it sure helps a lot yet. Aloha Louis I copied this one from the internet but reversed the Top Door and made a light. Bought couple boxes of these disposable's at a store. ________________________________________ Got this at a Garage Sale for ...$5.00 USD. : I still use this for Buffing and Dremel Work a lot. Then I found ... 6 - of these in Original Boxes at a ...Thrift Store for $5.00 . ( Disposable Laboratory Portable Tents. )
