Hi everyone! I'm a displaced Australian living in the SF Bay Area. I've lurked for quite a while, mostly to drool over everybody's vintage Seiko divers and chronographs. I absolutely love some of the aesthetics of these, but sadly don't have the means to acquire any. I've signed up thanks to Seikoholic (whom I know from /r/seiko on Reddit), who has convinced me to come here and talk a bit about the vintage Seikos I do own, and try to take care of, which are LCDs. I love these old digitals not just for their affordability, easier maintenance and all the usual conveniences of quartz, but also because unlike analog quartz or mechanical watches (I think) there is just a world of difference between the design and construction quality of the digital watches you can buy brand new today and these old gems from the 70s and 80s (with some - expensive - exceptions). I'll make a post at some point today with some photos and a story, hopefully some people here appreciate them. There will be one spring involved, if that helps!

Welcome, we're glad to have you!
I reside in Livermore, but work in SF...this BART strike certainly isn't doing me any favors.

Welcome mate!
I'd love to hear more about your digital watches. I don't know a lot about them but do remember them from "back in the day" and would love to learn about them.

Cheers for the warm welcome, everyone! I'm about to head out to help a coworker bottle (and, of course, drink) some of his homebrew beer, but when I get back I'll make a nice long, detailed post to bore the pants off you all. yes1.gif
Groundhog66: Thankfully I'm not reliant on BART to get to work, but my wife and I did have our weekend plans derailed a bit by the strike! Hopefully it doesn't drag on too long...
