I finally got this one sorted out again today. I serviced it maybe a year ago and six months later it kept stalling at the date change. I tried all sorts and couldn't work it out. I gave it another go this week and after another failure I finally twigged that there was some oil on the back of the date wheel that was causing resistance. I thoroughly cleaned the back of the wheel and all parts that come into contact with it and it's finally back up and running. Those wheels that control the date wheel are a real bitch to get lined up so they work right. The steel one is a magnetic cannon pinion.

This is my go-to beater- it is an Invicta(😱) which was a birthday gift a couple of years ago. I love that it has a Seiko heart (NH35a), and that it was bought as the closest affordable thing to the Samurai that I lusted after at the time, by my significant other(who knew it runs (virtually)the same movement!) But aside from the usual prejudices, I’ve become very fond of it- (I gather these can be very hit or miss in terms of whether you get a good example or not, so my expectations were low..) However, this is a good one! It has kept perfect time out of the box(no BS!), and has given me hours of fun as a test bed for various modding experiments. It will always have “ Invicta” on the case, and It will continue to accompany me (in rotation) on tip runs, and beach trips, and the occasional meal out with M’lady!

Mikey, are you not worried about getting cancer from those wind mills? Won’t Bill Gates’s nano-bots eat the cancer? 🤪
