I’ve always admired Tudor’s ‘Black Bay’, (and 𝘯𝘰𝘸, the ‘58). However, as with many high end references, it is out of my reach. A while back though, I bought an “Homage”, to see how the dimensions would suit me. It looked the part, but had a very loud and grinding wind action. Naturally, I never felt comfortable to wear it outside the house, and it was consigned to the “Future Projects” drawer. A awhile after that, a “cheeky” bid on a modded Invicta 10498, won the auction. It was a well executed mod, but the movement would stray to the left, just perceptibly, and the 43mm case was just too big for my preference. So that too went into the projects drawer. I really did admire the quality of the mod though, and didn’t like the idea of breaking it up.... So.... during the Lockdown, I was fiddling about, and an idea dawned- Would the NH35 fit into the slightly smaller (41mm) “ Black Bay” case, and what would I have to do, to make it happen? Well, the movement fitted, but the case back would not accommodate the correct movement ring. Luckily, the Invicta 10498 caseback fitted, with a different gasket. So then I cut down the stem to fit the “BB” crown, regulated the movt, and here it is. I do have the “BB” handset, but as the original mod looks so good, I’ve kept it “as is”, in tribute to a fellow enthusiast’s hard work. Attachments:
