I got to take a close look at a friend's 7A28-7040 this afternoon. I really must make more of an effort to get one of these in my collection.

Something different for a change, since I didn’t need to change the date (photo from yesterday).

The snow is mostly gone, but it's cold for here---14° overnight.

Cleaning a 45 King Seiko that obviously has been killed by a previous 'service'. Non-runner, scratched dial with hair under the crystal and everything covered in some kind of oil. My suspicion is, someone literally sprayed WD-40 in there. I am very curious to see if I will get it back to life.

SRPC49 black series LE (or is it really, given no serial number "X out of Y" but rather standard case back numbering? Case (pun intended) in point: Attachment Deleted

Now that all parts are in the ultrasonic I have to clean the boxes as well as there are oil drops in every compartment...

I am kind of a reverse watch snob. I get repulsed by the idea of owning a watch that's worth more than $1,000. But i grew up on Jaques Cousteau, and somehow a Doxa just has some kind of resonance with me. This is my 4th Doxa, i had an orange 300t, an orange 300 50th anniversary, a Poseidon re-issue, and now this, a Divingstar 300, and this is the one that just hits the spot for me. Oddly, i never lost a dime buying and re-selling those other 3 Doxas, but i've lost a small fortune, i'm sure, buying and selling Seikos, so that strikes me as odd, but, i guess snobs get what they deserve
