So, I’ve just decased a 6602-1990 (front loader) to remove some dirt off the dial. Bezel came off easily, snap case back ditto. Dirt removed. Bezel no longer snaps on to the case, neither does the caseback - they just won’t stay put

Sometimes my friend the bezel has to be aligned where it fits best I have also had casebacks be the devil to reinstall too I would try and turn it slightly till it goes back together Make sure there is not some odd butt holding u up too I have had this myself and it does not make any logical sense Truly sorry for all the hassle Stay safe out there God Bless,John

have a look at the back of the bezel, perhaps the notch has rounded off or broken off?

You could glue them on! Some had used that on one of the watches I once fixed. It had clearly worked, because the caseback had been hanging around since 1977 On a serious note. That sucks. You think it's gonna be a routine walk in the park and then suddenly everything goes wrong.

Like John says above if out of perfect round do a rotation until they fit up.
Like others say sorry to hear. Nothing more frustrating than the "easy" jobs being inexplicably difficult.

Thanks for the discussion fellas. I’ve tried in every conceivable position but to no avail - and now it’s well and truly shagged as the caseback is now distorted. Probably down to me getting thoroughly pissed off with it and being too ham-fisted.
Hey-ho. I’ve got a nicely working 6602 movement looking for a -1990 case. Shame I sold a couple last year...
