Thank you for that. It saves me from having to go through the motions.
I know that there are a couple of people on another forum who would argue until they are blue in the face that this isn't how a quartz watch works and they would spend innumerable hours trying to convince themselves that they are right and anyone who disagrees with them is wrong, crazy delusional, etc.
If you've got more, I would love to see it chinathumbsup.gif

Nice read, do you by any chance have the whole manual in .pdf form that you would be willing to share?

That's the problem...they don't think. You can get a sampling on another forum under a thread titled Grand Seiko vs Swiss Luxury.

Nice detail on the gear train. Never realized the center wheel was where it is.

I...but...what...how do they think they work?!?! That's the problem...they don't think. You can get a sampling on another forum under a thread titled Grand Seiko vs Swiss Luxury. They're all witches that think a quartz watch operates with black magic. Some interesting information here, I'll have to read it a few times to understand it properly. Thanks for sharing

Great information, thank you! Any chance I can get larger scans, and add them to the reference section?

Is this the information you were looking for smileys-drinking-beer That's great! thunbsup.gif The section how the LCD display works is very good as well. Interestingly the LCD has a very short (expected) life of just 7-8 years, but Seiko gives it 5 years! You do realise that the LCD on my Arnold will fail now i know that laugh1.gif

Thanks Rod. I can read it fine on my 23.5" monitor.
I found it interesting that the piezoelectric properties of quartz were discovered by Jacques and Pierre Curie. Pierre Curie was married to Marie Skłodowska Curie and shared a Nobel Prize with her and physicist Henri Becquerel. I had no idea that he was involved with the history of quartz technology.
