Thank you for that. It saves me from having to go through the motions.
I know that there are a couple of people on another forum who would argue until they are blue in the face that this isn't how a quartz watch works and they would spend innumerable hours trying to convince themselves that they are right and anyone who disagrees with them is wrong, crazy delusional, etc.

I found it interesting that the piezoelectric properties of quartz were discovered by Jacques and Pierre Curie. Pierre Curie was married to Marie Skłodowska Curie and shared a Nobel Prize with her and physicist Henri Becquerel. I had no idea that he was involved with the history of quartz technology.
