I recently joined the forum, so I guess introducing myself is the right thing to do.
I am a mechanical engineering student in my last semester (hopefully), working part time in the automotive industry.
My love for wrist watches started at an early age, probably stemming from seeing my father wear diver's and subsequently buying a small red and black Timex Ironman which I wore through most of my childhood adventures.
Fast-forward to some years ago, when I moved away from home to a different continent for my studies and achieved some degree of financial freedom, I purchased my first mechanical Seiko, an SNZG. I was instantly hooked. For someone like me (born in the 90's) to see a small mechanical machine ticking away and measuring time relatively accurately amazed me.
After some first prods into modding and tinkering, an SKX was added to the "collection". The collection grew little by little, the SNZG found its way to one of my best friend's wrists and I found myself spiraling down into the world of vintage Seiko.
I was surprised at the level of innovation, mechanical prowess, and technological achievements that Seiko managed in the decades of the 60's, 70's, and 80's. I kept reading and researching and getting better at fixing, maybe even restoring, watches.
Nowadays I enjoy browsing the internet, especially auctions in Japan, for watches with interesting movements that are in need of some love and care.
So far, I've adopted a couple of LM's, a KS, a 6138, a 7A38, all of which are, slowly but surely, finding themselves in a healthy state mechanically and aesthetically.
Anyway, I am not even remotely as knowledgeable as the majority of the members in this forum, so my contributions will be little and far spaced between each other. But I am hoping to keep learning and sharing this passion with the other members.
Cheers all, and sorry for the long read.
