Hi All,
I'm here at the Wrist Sushi forum as I have recently discovered the fascinating world of wrist horology. I've always loved mechanical wonders like these machines you celebrate here, but had just never come to realize what a treasure they are until I found you all. Perhaps my most passionate hobby is the rescue of broken machines and putting them to good honest use. Many of the things around me are just that, which includes my Grandfather's mantel clock among many other things.
After some great thought and a lot of investigative interneting I have purchased a broken and bandless 6139-6002 that shares my birth year. I will endeavor to bring it back to life and wear it with pride. I honor 'patina' and marks of use as badges of honor, not things to be hidden or wiped away. However I am a stickler for precision and peak efficiency of any system I apply myself to. I'm looking forward to the tools I will collect and the lessons I will learn first hand (pun intended) in reviving this watch. I have viewed and read a fair amount about the 6139B movement but well know this is by no means qualification to do the work. I hope that you will be willing to coach me along in the project ahead, but I know I have only myself to rely on. I feel confident in my skills but have no experience and know this to be a very dangerous crossroads. I will take it slow, and I will expect to trip and fall more than once. With any luck I'll make it to the end of the road and look forward to sharing it with you. I know it will be immensely satisfying to me!
