Having missed yesterday’s I thought I’d start today’s. BYM 6106 Sealion for me. Iirc our good friend Leffe tipped me off about this one back in the day. (Or it may have been a different bym, whichever it was I’m still grateful!).

I can’t take the credit for that one pip - it was a 6119-8160 I tipped you off about 😉 This 7006-7002 from August ‘70 has been a bit of a labour of love (for that read ‘pain in the arse’) and is now something of a ‘bitsa’. The original train bridge was missing the arbor for the rotor so had to be replaced with the only spare I could find - a 19J bridge. Then the gear train wouldn’t play ball which turned out to be a worn pivot on the escape wheel, and the blue dial (which I really like) was missing a dial foot. When I did eventually get it running the date mechanism then started playing up, which turned out to be a couple of chewed up plastic teeth on the date wheel. To add to my woes, the NOS black one I bought from Cousins was useless as the teeth were too flexible and wouldn’t engage properly with the clutch 🤬 Thankfully, the date wheel in my only spare 7006 was made of sterner stuff (metal teeth) and works a treat. Runs a treat, and all the effort was worth it in the end.

Tried to do some restoration. Second hand (removed red marker pen) and 3 o'clock pointer (fixed the black line) turned out nice. Not so happy with hour hand (tried to fix the black line), but it's better than it was and I think things turned out nice considering it was the first time I did something like this. Anyway, I think it looks way better with silver second hand and new crystal!

This 7005-6020 has a curious faceted acrylic crystal, with not too pronounced edges. I've polished it a bit, but didn't want to make them disappear.

A beater watch for landscaping....my first effort at minimizing a turtle was an srp777, i sold it off, as i felt the bezel was just over-large to begin with. So i tried the same mod on a messed up old 6309 case that i had bought as a quartz/hybrid mod. This turtle sits on my wrist very nicely, it's about the best i can do with a 6309/skx sized bezel, and my last remaining watch of that size.

0823 - 5000 QT from August 1974. Hard to capture the dial detail. A little crystal refurbishment wouldn't hurt...
