Spotted this chronograph. Don't know what model it is whether it is old or new. Any help would be appreciated.

It's a 6138-001x. I knew the first bit but had to look up the rest on the Japanese Watch Photo Database on the forum. A very useful resource : www.csce.uark.edu/~jgauch/photos/watches/That watch can be found there under' Chrono Auto'

Seiko 6138-0011 UFO Yachtsman Chronograph Automatic, with original box and paperwork. Was looking around and it appears to be a great grab if I drive 100 miles to pick it up.

Then put your foot down before someone else gets there first ! Sounds like it could be a good buy, especially with box & papers.

Yeah, that's probably a good one to pick up. Nice lume. 2nd rarest bracelet (and best IMO) - the Stelux. Needs real cleaning (look at the gruk) but that's actually a good thing. Much more likely to be untouched. Price range is important - so ?

Going to take a little road trip Saturday. And hopefully I will. Be wearing this watch on the return trip. If this works out it will be the 3rd. Craigslist score.

Son was asking for $30.00 his Father found out and freaked it was a gift to his son about 9yrs ago. So I talked to the Father and agreed to buy it for what he paid for it providing it is in as nice a shape as the pictures look. Which will still be a very fair deal for all of us. I will post some good close ups of the watch Saturday evening.

Mission Accomplished
This beauty will hold a special place right next to my cherished 6309-7049. I will get some more pics uploaded later. Right now I would like to find a manual/guide so I can figure out if it is fully functional, I don't know how to reset chronograph dials. I also found some info that I would like to have confirmed by some of you. Here is a link to the info. 6138-0011 It basically said you should leave the chronograph running.

Congrats !!!! That is a real beauty! Definitely on my wish list! To reset the chrono, stop it with the top pusher and reset with bottom pusher. Not sure if the 6138 is the same as the 6139 but if it is, then it is recommended to keep it running. That being said, I have my Dad's 6139-6005 which he got new in 1972. He wore it for years and then gave it to me. When I had it, I never ran the chrono. I had to put it in a drawer when the crown broke and it sat for 20+ years until I made a new friend on another forum who generously offered me a genuine Seiko crown and stem and even installed it for me. When he opened it, he told me that the movement was pristine and shiny but he suggested a service. I sent the watch to Spencer for a complete dis-assembly, cleaning, re-oililng and re-assemly. In speaking to Spencer, I was told that the movement was in great shape and that there was no wear and tear requiring replacement of any parts so I don't know that it's 100% necessary to have the chrono running all the time. Congrats on a great looking watch!

wow that's a BEAUTY. I love the big-link Stelux bracelet too - nicest of the three possible bracelets IMO. It's a keeper! The lume and dial are fantastic, just beautiful. Some very minor work and that'll be a top-notch example.

Cool. Do you think it was re-lumed?

It is original. It took a very bright LCD light to coax that brightness out of the lume.

Start & stop the chrono function with the top right button, reset to zero with the bottom right button.
It's also has the handwind function, it can be wound via crown while pushed it.
