Clocked these on the UK Boutique site - www.seikoboutique.co.uk/product-category/presage/60s-style/“The collection is inspired by the design of Japan’s first ever chronograph, originally created by Seiko in 1964 to coincide with an important sporting event in Tokyo. This modern version is updated with the 4R movement and lumibrite in subtle sepia to create its vintage look with no compromise on brightness and practicality.” So you’ll be able to have the Limited Edition Crown Chronograph look (well, almost) without the price tag and with a ‘lower level’ movement. I still prefer the aesthetics of the SPB127/129/131 personally, and the SARX081 of course! Not a fan of the 4R39 ‘open heart’ and 24hr sub-dial variants though. www.seikoboutique.co.uk/product-category/seiko-5-sports/field-style/“These watches have been created with an ‘in the field’ military design – taking inspiration from a style originally called a ‘trench watch,’ created to be robust and reliable – echoing the Seiko 5 Sports characteristics.” Clearly inspired by the slightly larger SNZG field watch series. I’m quite liking the look of the blue-dialled SRPG39K1 and at sub-40mm I imagine it’ll wear well.

Definitely not a fan of the first. The "open heart" look is a gimmick that doesn't suit a model based on a vintage look.

Yet again I am not sure what Seiko are thinking Maybe it's a case of the crisps twister (twisted salt bag) syndrome.

Fascinating to witness Seiko's PR campaign....PRospex vs PResage. I like the look save for the open heart feature as well.

So while shmoes like me forked out for the Limited Edition (1,964 pcs) 6R35 powered SPB127 which I can tell you is absolutely stunning as Leffe can attest, then they come along with a $30 movement aka 4R35 and change it a bit for the "masses" at nearly 500 GBP - INSANE THINKING and frankly an affront to buyers of each; This new 'cheapie" that is degraded in my view to be powered by a 4R35: And the SPB127 that I am proud to own and love to wear and admire but now has the stink of a 'cheapened version release' all over it. Seiko modern marketing SuX.

@@ leffemonster thank you Nick for sharing and letting us know of these new releases.
While I ranted in the post above I also think it is great to see that some folks can have something new and different.
There you have it - I am part schizophrenic !!!

HiBeat, having also wedged on the SPB129J1 on release I’ll admit I also felt a tad irritated when I saw the “Presage ‘60s Series”. Don’t get me wrong - I don’t regret picking up the 129 at all, nor the SARX081. I think both are worth the money and certainly look (to me at least) much better aesthetically. It isn’t the first time Seiko have done this of course - release an LE with a price tag to match, and then a short while later release a very similar watch with a ‘lesser’ movement for less money. Think SLA017 vs SPB143. I guess so long as there are punters like you and me Jon to pay the full price for the LE edition, they’ll continue banging them out!

I’m quite liking the look of the blue-dialled SRPG39K1 and at sub-40mm I imagine it’ll wear well. Me too! I quite like it and I am not a fan of the explosive diarrhea selection of the new Seiko 5 series except the SRPE61K1 which I own. For some reason I can't get beyond a non screw down crown But I would consider this one if the price off retail is attractive enough.

Yes there have been some pretty good new SRPs come out in the "5KX" format. The non-screw down crown is again an odd choice because the cost savings has to be neglible but I am not worried about if for watches worn in rotation on 'non water days' when I am not swimming and it's not pouring. The SRPE61 is an excellent looker.
