If OK with the bosses I would like to promote SwissTec, Hawkwell, Essex UK for their excellent service on my daughters 25 year old Maurice Lacroix quartz watch.
It required a repair and service after it took a knock. From my inspection, the repairs being a new crown and crystal.
Following Google searches and reviews I selected SwissTec for the job. I emailed pictures of the watch and a brief description of the requirements. Within 12 hours I had a reply with ball park costs and timescales. They stated the crown was the main issue as LM had no stock and that I would have to wait 2 to 3 months due to COVID supplies. As there was no urgency I waited the full 3 months before contacting them again. Yet again they replied very quickly but stated the crown was still out of stock. This time I suggested I send the watch to them and let them assess its needs first hand. They agreed and away it went on the 15 April. Within 2 days I had email acknowledgement it had been received and given a reference number and estimate of cost (£242). This document include a picture of the watch and a description of its condition together with all the work they intended doing. I accepted the estimate and paid the bill in full (condition of contract).
Yesterday, 11th May, I received an email stating the watch was ready and would be dispatched by RM Next Day. I contacted them to agree the return day, today, and my address to ensure I would be home to sign for it.
The package arrived this morning. The watch was wrapped in tissue, bubble and a zip bag placed inside a Maurice Lacroix travel case*, then inside a plastic protective glasses style case. All the old parts (crown, stem and crystal) were returned together with a business sized warranty card with the watches details and a pressure test slip. * Note: I shipped the watch in bubble wrap inside a RM small parcels size box.
The watch looks absolutely brand NEW, its case lightly polished and a case back sticker applied.
This was a 1st Class Service Repair.
