I have a Casio DW-500 line module (apparently a junior model of DW-5000). Bezel rot has destroyed the original bezel on mine like many others and replacements are impossible to find for reasonable pirce (NOS ones cost well over 100$). There is also a risk that those NOS ones are rotten aswell even though in some conditions they are known to survive.
I watched a Casio enthusiast vide on youtube where the guy said that bezel rot occurs especially on watches where there is an old lithium cell left inside. Maybe low current has something to do with it? In any case an interesting notion from a person who seemed to have fiddled with these quite alot.
Long story short I have now ordered a modern Baby-G square bezel to see if that fits on my Vintage DW-500. I will let you know how it goes as I think other people might be interested about this aswell. Outward it looked pretty much the same except that the DW-500 has 3 buttons instead of 4.
So it would then be a older junior G-shock with a Baby-G bezel mod.

I doubt its from the old lithium battery; rather, the material used for those bezels in the 90's. I have a huge collection of 90's vintage G-Shocks and mainly display them because I'm afraid I'll crack the bezels. I have the same DW-500 original Baby G as you, purchased cheap to resell for a profit and the bezel crumbled in the mail. I follow a couple guys from Malaysia on Instagram that 3D print older bezels in various colors and color the lettering. Don't know if they do the DW-500. Haven't seen one. Curious to know how your experiment works out.

I'm quite sceptical about the battery theory as well. One thing is for sure, the ones with an old battery inside stink! I have also tried to find a 3D print bezel for this, but no luck. I also bought this for profit, but if this bezel works, I'm going to use it. I'll let you know asap.

The condition of the original bezel doesn't allow to make a mold, does it? Would you like to try?
Here is how to make a silicone mold of a Casio bezel
and here how to make the bezel using the mold
NOTE: These are not my videos, I haven't done it.

I thought it first, but assembling 100 pieces of resin to form an intact bezel seemed too much
But thanks! Didn't think of silicone mould even though I have seen it in action. I'm sure going to try it if I find and intact bezel.

Doesn't fit. I see if I can cut it to fit, but don't think so.
