Hello everyone, many thanks for approving my member application. I've always been interested in anything mechanical. Used to tinker with old clocks many years ago. Now retired after too many years in petrochemicals. Hardly ever wore a watch but for some strange reason decided to buy a Rotary quartz about 3 years ago. This (somehow) got me interested in watches. Next purchase was a new Invicta diver - now this is what really took me on the road to Seiko after noticing that it contained an NH35 movement. This led me to eBay and I started buying old Seiko 5s in the £20 range. Bought basic watch tools and watched hours of YT videos and read all the forums - fantastic resources. Discovered first-hand what a 'tweezer ping' was. Spent more hours on my knees looking for screws and watch parts than I care to admit. Until last month my most expensive purchase was a £49 Seiko 7005-7130, which I serviced and am wearing now as I type this. My most recent purchase was a 6139-6002 (yes, I've got the Pogue bug). It does have issues but thanks to the vast amount of information on the internet, I am progressing well. And I now have a timegrapher, so things must be getting serious! Looking forward to learning more

…from another UK member, further east than you in Kent. Plenty to help you with your tinkering on here, and plenty that’ll wade in with support if you need it.

Went there a long time ago to be best man at a wedding - Aylesham, I think. I remember a colliery nearby. Thank you for the offer. I'm sure I will be asking questions. Lessons are being learned very quickly. Number 1 (about the only thing the internet did not teach me) - never tinker with watches in a room with a carpeted floor!
