Hi there, This is my Bellmatic story: I am a fan of Bell-Matics since I was a kid of 13 ears old, when my dad got a 27 stone one from work after 15 years there, fascinated me. He never wore it, but when he was at work me and my brother used to sneak up to his room occasionally and played with the watch. Ding ding ding, so cool . Anyways, my father gave the watch to my brother when he was 18, and the idiot lost it Should have been me who got it... So a few years ago I asked him if he remembers which watch it was, we figured it was a 27 stone from about 1968 , and I bought one to give it to hm as a present. But when it arrived, I fell in love with it and kept it myself - until he saw it and made me give it to him. Anyway I got another one and also got a second one as a present. So I am here now trying to find some information, very cool to have a forum like this for this beautiful watch... Bye, TeeGee Attachments:

What a great story about your Dad's Bellmatic and how you've come full circle with it. I just recently built one myself, you can read about it here: Inboost's Blendermatic
Welcome to the forum, we'll all be glad to help answer questions about your watches. For example, the 27 stone models are typically home market Japanese after the early 1970's due to import / export duties levied against stone count. There was a 21 jewel (stone) model too, but it is very rare as it was a transitional model when moving down from 27 to 17 jewels. You see, the first 6 jewels are under the date wheel and do little to help the movement, but the other four are in the barrel and train wheel bridge and these do good work for the watch. The 21 jewel model had a 17 jewel calendar plate but the 27j barrel and train wheel bridge.
There are so many variations of the Bellmatic, it's quite a job to learn them all!

Welcome. Nice watch.. If you want to collect the whole range, there are quite a few different bell-matics to be had. Could be a fun, and long running endeavor!

LOl I wish I had the money for that... but I am quite happy to have my 4006 - hopefully with the help of this forum I can find the missing link and clip wristsushi.proboards.com/post/256244Also, I have a Franken-Bell that I bought a long time ago, which is quite nice, too. And one day hopefully many many years from now I will get back the one I gave to my dad...

Cool story, I have a few Bellmatics, one of which came to me in a curious way. I was looking on ebay years ago now around my birthday for a treat as you do and I spotted a job lot of 3 Bellmatics in New York state, one of them had a light blue shimmering dial that caught my eye and I followed the auction and dropped out as it went fairly high, I kept an image as I had never seen the dial colour before. A year passed and my Birthday approached again and yes I was on ebay! HaHaHa A fresh listing of "Seiko watch" apperared and the one listing image showed a tiny watch in the middle, the dial colour immediately caught my eye. The watch was a BIN for £50, I downloaded the image and zoomed in and it looked similar to the watch from a year back. I hit Buy and waited for the watch to turn up, Turned up a few days before my Birthday and here is what is amazing.........It was the exact watch I had wanted a year back from the US, I knew as I had saved the images, it had travelled to London and a couple who moved in a flat found it in a draw and put it on ebay. A gift from the Seiko Gods! It is an ongoing project, as I intend to fit a 27j movement and jewel the Barrel arbour port making it 28j Also replace the day/date window as someone dinked it at some point. Some of my projects take far too long, a mixture of need of knowledge, parts and costs involved, but in the end well worth it.

cmb - that's a great story! thanks for sharing it with us. I love stuff like that, you know, 'meant to be' etc. types of serendipitous moments. I hot rodded my Bellmatic as you intended to and love it. Nothing like having a sleeper 28j under the hood of a 17j dial Mine didn't get the lower barrel jewel in the plate becuase I didn't have a suitable jewel and the plate port was actually in very good shape (shockingly - maybe this watch had been broken far longer than it had been working). It runs great and I love it even though it's a complete mix-master. I hope to see yours up here some day soon, but I think we all know about how the backlog can be. When the right time comes to work on it I'm sure you will know.
