I just can't stand to wait any longer on this one (well, I leaked it yesterday...) so here is one of my top grail watches I've been after for awhile:
An original 7015-6010 Time Sonar with translucent brown dial and lime green sweep chronograph hand!
The first watch I remember loving was a Swatch Jellyfish circa 1985-ish - this is a way better version of that idea. I hope this one gets its own thread!

For freestyle Friday Sunday, I am going off the rails, for a trip into Bonkers-town. Here is one of my Grail watches. The Patek Philippe World Time, model 5230G. The G is for white -G-old. I do NOT own this watch (YET). I didn’t see that as a qualifier here - and this is a watch “I WANT”, which I believe is equally in line with the “WEAR WHATEVER WATCH YOU WANT” theme. I was reading in to the theme myself figuring it was some kind of double meaning! Great watch , but sans second hand, even though I'm never that precise I do like the added complication. I have but one watch w/o. Very classy/dressy but it doesn't get much wrist time...Isn't Patek's tag line something like "You never really own a Patek, you merely hold it for the future generation" Pretty cool. Almost as cool as Vacheron's

Freestyle Friday
Or how about Free Watch Friday
It was around this time in 2019 that the US Mint announced they were going to release the 2019W Enhanced Reverse Proof Silver Eagle.
It was $65 plus $5 shipping from the mint.
They were only going to mint 20,000 or so and their ordering website always crashes when they do coins like this.
Anywho I didn't really want one but low mintage issues can usually be flipped for double what you paid.
The sale date was 2 days after I was going to come home from vacation. While on vacation I kept telling myself I didn't need one.
When I got back I decided to try and get one and I did. Usually I wait for the mint to actually ship it to me before I put it up for sale on Ebay while everyone else does a presale and gets a lot more money the first and second day.
So this time I said I am going to do a presale, looked at what others were bid up to or Buy it Now, listed mine for $400, and it sold in 2 minutes.
The next day they were selling for $800 to $1000
No matter what path I choose it is always the wrong one.
Anywho I was going to buy a watch with the proceeds and found a brand new Orient Star on Ebay with the seller was listed as eing in Japan.
I bought it, paid for it, and 4 days later the seller cancelled the order.
I'm not sure if anyone has noticed but for the past 5 years sellers in Japan list items on Ebay that aren't theirs but are for sale elsewear and when you buy it from them they buy it from some other website or auction and then drop ship it to you. That is why on Ebay you see the same watch listed 5 times from 5 different sellers for 5 different prices all using the same pictures.
So now I needed to find another watch.
Myles posted Macys online had a sale on Spoons for Black Friday weekend so I bought one.
There is no Spoon. If there is no Spoon it cannot have a price.
Fast forward a month and the Orient shows up in an Amazon Japan box.
I message the seller and told them they cancelled the sale and already gave me a refund.
They said no they didn't
I messaged them again and said if they wanted it back they can pay postage or I will pay them half of the original price.
They said I paid for it.
2 strike rule it is mine now. I tried, they wouldn't listen, I am not going to argue with them.
So how do you get a free watch?
Hustling.
Buy something at a low price or that is in high demand, sell it for more than you paid for it, parlay your winnings into the next deal, and keep going until you have enough for what you want.
Or get lucky when a free watch shows up in the mail.
Or get a watch that has no price because in the Matrix nothing is really real
And Inboost beat me to the McDonalds Happy Meal prize with his Choco Cat watch post

I mean for the money, you better be making an heirloom out of it I guess. Trouble is, I know a guy who's father did leave him not one, but two Patek watches. They are from the 1950's and neither a size or style that is very desirable today - and as they are worth a fortune, they were unceremoniously sold off - his father probably rolled over in his grave.

I have noticed this and try to avoid it. Often you can find the source listing in Japan (for much less) and buy it from the real seller with a little extra effort!

Isn't there a congressmen trying to get an investigation going on why the mint isn't meeting demand on these or other special coins? As for the wrong path. It seems your looking at this wrong. To me it seems like you looking to apply the four letter F word that I refuse to use. Or strongly try and avoid...No not that F word but "Fair". You see at the time you sold your coin for more then you bought it for, $400 you were fine with that profit. At that exact time, you must have thought it fair. Then in just a matter of time you see others making even more and you now think your profit is Un Fair. See how easy it can change and for that reason I do my best never to use that word. I have spent way to much time looking into the idea of fairness to know it doesn't really exist.

Day 9 Freespace. Sunday is my day to catch up around the house. I’ve been a nose to the grindstone guy for the last 30 years, pulling at least six days a week. Not slacking just prioritizing... 6309-715X with the blue dial. Again this is the top 5 of my favorite Seiko references. Sporting an original tapered H link bracelet. I love this bracelet. Blurry pic as I was driving and hoping to catch the light off the dial...

Anyone ever watch The Twilight Zone?
Almost every episode even the original ones from the 1960's were always good.
They relied on the art of story telling rather than special effects.
A lot of the original episodes only had 1 or 2 or 3 background sets.
The half hour progressed through dialog and story telling.
That said one episode that struck me even back then was the 3rd generation reboot back in the early 2000's.
Wonder why you can't get ahead in life?

This one is the original first gen "Stargate".
According to my records, it's the SKZ327. Case back says 7S36-04P0.
The strap is an Uncle Seiko rig which is very nice and really makes the watch POP (IMHO)!!!
Edits:
If you search Seiko Stargate on ebay, you'll find a bunch of them. Saw a couple of listings for the OG version out of Japan for around $400 - $500.
Seiko make a decent number of variants of this one over the years but I just love the OG version since later versions had red minute hands, gold accents, different case finishes etc.

Had to change the water in my 🐠 tank so kept this one raz - What kind of fish do you keep? I used to have a lot of aquariums... mostly planted Freshwater, but also dabbled in smaller reef tanks... Wow! Amazing stuff! I have a small one with couple of Guppy and Xyphos and one big Sanitary. Is more a responsibility of keeping them alive rather than a hoppy. And live entertainment for my 5 cats

After a while I had gotten into the world of watches, I started hunting for a super accurate watch. (This video sparked my interest in quartz watches: m.youtube.com/watch?v=1pM6uD8nePo)I came across all the modern HAQ pieces from Bulova, Tissot, Seiko etc., but soon came acros the fact that Seiko and Citizen had already been there and done that. Better yet, I was able to buy a beautiful vintage piece for the same money as the modern equivalents and even better still, It would be possible to regulate the vintage pieces. However as a poor student, I couldn't justify the purchase, that was until I graduted with a master's degree in Theology from University of Helsinki (no, I'm not a priest and yes, in Nordic countries theology is executed as a science) and I wanted to reward myself with something nice and commemorate the occasion. So I went and bought this Seiko 9923 from eBay. I photgraphed it today with a facsimile of the oldest Finnish hymnal from the late 16th century, because my thesis was about hymns and I have quite a few hymnals... Hymnal fact for the Sunday: Amish hymnal, "Ausbund", is the oldest protestant hymnal still in regular use. Didn't want to risk the date change before 9 am. Very cool. My 7548 keeps excellent time (about +2 seconds per month), but it would be nice to own an actual high-accuracy quartz. Did Martin Luther carry a watch? I think pocket watches were introduced during his lifetime.

I think pocket watches were introduced during his lifetime. One theory is (in short and simplified) that Calvinism started the trend towards eloquent pocket watches as Jewelry was banned. People had to hide their status symbols thus making the pocket watch a status symbol that was both functional and possible to hide. Wealthy people would then compete who had the coolest pocket watch, but were able to get away with it, because it was hidden from the plain sight. Not sure if Luther owned one, but his importance and wealth at the time would definetly indicate that he owned one. Somewhat similar developemnt took place in Japan with inros and netsukes in the 16th century aswel.

This day a had this nice Citizen Hisonic on my wrist. It buzzes loudly, and looks great (besides the scratched crystal. Anyone here, who knows where I can find a correct replacement?). On the back an nice medallion.
