I've noticed over the last 12 months watches we all enjoy rising in price both Swiss, German and Asian watches at I think alarming rates is it just me or have you all noticed the rise.
Cheers Mark

Over time everything seems to rise in price. In 1972, I was supporting a family of 5 on $22K per annum. Today, the same amount would place me in the poverty level.

There are other things that are also smaller than 10 years ago... LOL.
on a serious note, these watch companies better understand that the law os supply and demand is for real... if pricing hikes continue and seiko 5 are what the man on the street can aspire to... we are beat.

Back in the early 70's, when the glorious quartz watches made their entrance and after the great interest that the Accutron caused, the luxury watch market changed... the very precise mechanical Swiss watches started losing ground..their defense, as it is now was the metal, the complications, diamonds, sapphire glass and other bells and whistles.
A friend of mine still has a Seiko that he bought at the PX for less than $25.00 back then and is still ticking.
I feel that watches are sooner or later going to become the "throw away" kind, be them Swiss of from any other origin... I do not want to bring up the subject again... but who would like to deal with the DUNCES of OME--Service Center.
A personal thought here... if I buy a watch for up to $200.00 new and it lasts me without issues for 5 years... that is 11 cents per day of ownership. Not too bad, if you consider that the watch more than likely will last more than that.

Young punks that just got into easy money are the ones that would buy the zshock... one 18 kt with real diamonds will put you back about$20,000.

I too have noticed a dramatic increase in watches especially the Vintage. It wasnt all that long ago when you could find decent original 6309s for less then $150.00. Now they are selling (even with AM parts) for well over $350.00-$400.00 Same thing applies to the 6105s .........I see a lot of them on the various sales corners selling for $695.00- $1000.00 and the sellers ARE getting their prices. I have also before many times mentioned the fact that the more people "talk them up" the more they go in price! I fortunately have been able to procure most all of my Vintage for practically next to nothing but had I not been so lucky I couldnt afford todays prices! Another thing I have frequently noticed is that most major BM stores have gone more into selling Citizens, Bulovas and Casios. About the only Seikos anymore you find in the stores are the "old man" type that you would see your Dad wearing in the 70s or so. MANY a time I have considered selling all of my watches other then those my Wife has bought me and buy just ONE good watch to own and wear! Believe it or not the one watch I would probably buy is this one................... I KNOW its quartz but it has virtually anything/everything you could want including and awesome RED back light!
I currently own this one which my Wife bought for me about 10 years ago and other then a couple of battery changes I have never had a problem with it! The Lume however sucks big time and the absence of a back light really bothers me but it keeps great time and the alarm is the loudest I have ever had on any watch!
