You may recall, I recently picked up a nice 7548-700F from the bay for a good price. I had high hopes that when I popped a new cell in it, there would be life...and all would be well with the world. No such luck, it is going to require some TLC. I made the decision to just have a complete tear down, service (including replace the circuit), seals and cleaning...I think it's a nice enough example, to warrant the investment. My high hopes were dashed, but in the end...I'll have a nice piece IMO.

I would do it in a heartbeat. That is a nice example and those watches are starting to see the $250-$350 range on sales and auction boards.

Ah the good old days.
I passed on a NOS 7548 on EBAY back in the day at $100 because I didn't want a quartz watch. I picked up a decent 7548 diver for $22 which I had hoped only needed cell but no go. Sold it for $40. Nowadays you can part it out for $100.
I have invested a whole lot more than a watch is worth getting it fixed and mod'd just because that is what I want.
If that is the watch you want and are happy go for it.

Is the dial on this pepsi model the standard charcoal black or the navy blue seen on modern pepsi?
I saw a post somewhere recently which suggested the vintage pepsi models used black dials.

If it's not what I want when it's finished, I'm sure there will be plenty who will. yes1.gif

Black dial. Sorry, it's a deep navy blue. The watch is an April '88 model (right? 84xxxx is the serial) or is it a '78? Anyway, it's blue. And beautiful. These are great watches. I just last weekend sold a near-mint one of these and I'm seriously regretting it now. EDIT: April 1978 - the first change-batter mark is at "81", and those were struck in the factory IIRC. This is an early one. Here it is after a full frame-off rebuild:

Sorry, it's a deep navy blue. Do the slim case "pepsi" 6309s also have a blue dial or are they all black?
