This is the other specimen of my recent Ukrainian haul of Soviet watches, a Slava 3056A powered diver-look piece. I really liked the styling of this one, and the color green always calls to me. The seller reported it as-new but broken. I figured at the low price I'd take the gamble. I purchased from the same seller a new in the wrapper metal bracelet of the same era and came to have what I think is a very handsome 1980s vintage watch.
Upon arrival I started my testing and evaluation: - Coil Resistance = 2,556 Ω - CHECK
- Pulse Test (10ms +/- alternating) = Sweeper moves! CHECK
- Module test (1.55v supply) = Movement, it's alive! CHECK
- Timekeeping accuracy = +0.700 sec/day (not great, and no adjustment) = PASS
So why is this watch broken? It turns out the battery strap was missing it's insulatory bushing and was dead shorting the battery. A few slips of kapton tape rectified this quickly and now we're off to the races!
I'm driving my Wife's Mazda RX-8 this week and thought I'd take a signature babyivan shot
Funny thing, the hands are painted to look as if lumed but they are absolutely not. Regardless I love the dial font used for the hour indicies!

Spb147, trying out the Barton tropic style band today which just arrived in the post. Comfy and tapers ( I read somewhere it didn’t). The floating keeper lock is a great touch

A new SKXA53 in the family, it also was in the last batch coming back from my watchmaker (the left one). Yesterday's SKX007J seems to run perfectly, so now it's this one's turn to spend some days on my wrist. If it runs well, it will also have a new crystal, new gaskets and a waterproof test.

How have i never come across this watch/dial before!

Would you have a picture of the watch laid out on a flat surface? I think I have the same watch and have left it on the tan NATO that it came on. Would love to see what the whole watch looks like on a black tropic.

Im not sure if you are familiar with Barton’s tropic style but every purchase comes with 2x straps, 1 long (usual divers length) and one shorter, which is on mine, the floating keeper has a little tab inside that locks into the end of the strap, eliminating the need to shape or trim the strap to get rid of the dreaded divers overhang! I’m loving it

Thanks tommie! That looks really nice on the Tropic. I have an Uncle Seiko inbound but that is earmarked for my 1st gen Stargate. It had a waffle in it but that ripped to I decided to try it on a Tropic. I agree that the seichu NATO is really beautiful (and very comfortable). I was hesitant to put put a black Tropic on since there is really no black on the watch. Seeing your looking that good is making that decision more difficult. I don't have to worry about any overhang sing I've got ham hocks for wrists.

Lucky man, mine are skin tightly wrapped on bone 😂😂 Pretty sure the tropic also comes in tan which would look great imo.. lucky it’s such a breeze to change them, I begrudge any watch without drilled lugs now! Ps… the bezel insert is black! Don’t overthink it! Edit: only just noticed it’s actually brown like the dial when the light hits it 😅 but at a glance the black strap doesn’t really look too much of a contrast to the v dark brown tint in the watch at all
