Hmmm, I'm not sure I like the idea of all of your hard drive eggs going into a single platter basket Fergus . Best set up a RAID-1 array and mirror it with a twin in case of a failure. Meanwhile in the mad scientist's time lair we are scrutinizing various internal OCXOs to +1.42E-012 which isn't very fair of me.
I think this is a Citizen 8620-860098Y but it was a rescue and the case back supplied clearly didn't belong to it by number. The bracelet is not original, but is a saldog special that plays the part so perfectly with this watch. I love the dusty blue color and white tipped sweeper.

Hmmm, you lost me at Best... Yeah, sorry about that. I'm a bit of a nut about backups and redundancy. The RAID-1 array is pretty simple and if your PC supports it (most do - might need a BIOS tweak to set it up) is as simple as adding a second identical hard drive as the first and then pairing it with PC software (Intel Rapid Storage Technology). Then everything that you write to the first drive is mirrored to the second. If one of the drives blows up nothing is lost, and you can hot swap it with another identical drive and the mirror will re-sync. This is actually how I back my PC up. I have three hard drives and every weekend I hot swap one out to cold storage. I started this 19 years ago when a burglary at our home resulted in a major loss of pictures and documents when the PC was taken. So far I've not lost a thing since

It's a rainy day - perfect for all of you mad scientists to lurk in your lairs.
The scratches on my old dive watch never stopped me from reading the time and depth - but it's not like I remember "oh I got that scratch on that rock while going after that lobster that time." Maybe when the battery dies again in a couple of years I'll send it off to the Citizen service center in Atlanta and get the crystal replaced. Will see how I feel about it in two years.

My first post in this thread, with the first Seiko I owned (up to six so far) uh oh, wait a sec, SAM is also used on the French day wheel too, right TinkeringFR ? You're right inboost SAM stands for SAMSTAG in German and SAMEDI in French. Too much Citizen's the last days. I needed my 51-2273. The picture quality isn't nice, but sure i you've all seen it too much the last few weeks.
