My dilemma is simple. I'm a bartender a few days a week and I like to wear a nice watch as I'm always putting my hands near people and their drinks; to me it looks more professional. My classic 6309 is temporarily down with mechanical issues, I've got an SKX173 to wear, but frankly (and because I'm a geek) I'd like another option. Keeping in mind that this watch will probably see 75 hand washings during my shift along with keg changes in and out of a cooler box and a bunch of glassware washings. Definitely no place for a "nice" or fragile watch. Based upon those parameters, I'm considering of the following options. Another 6309 but not sure where to locate another for sale. Another SKX173 - Boring but a quick fix SKX007 Kinetic - Unsure about this 7548-7000 - Used and in nice condition with all of the important elements (see below) Any other suggestions? Anyone have thoughts on the Kinetic? I have no knowledge about this and would love advice. Here is the 7548 that I can get... Thanks in advance!

I'm sure you're just mixing up terms because there is no SKX007 kinetic only an automatic.
For a reliable good looking work watch, you can't do much better than the SKX007 for value, reliability, robustness or water resistance. This is an ISO rated dive watch so a new one or one with fresh seals is good to 200m or 20ATM.

An SKX007 would be the easy choice, can't go wrong with that IMO. Might be worth considering getting another 6309, get it serviced/sealed, pressure tested and roll like that. Due to the fact that you will be around/in water, a pressure test is mandatory. I'm a sucker for the 6309's, and you can never have too many IMO.

Thanks to all!
I'm definitely mixing up my terms on the kinetic...thanks for straightening me out.
So far:
For the SKX007 is a great non-classic that if something really bad happened to, I could easily replace it. The fact that its new means that ive got next to nothing to worry about for a long time...plus it looks good.
The 6309 is always going to be a great watch, if another good one pops up I should get it.
The 7548 - snag it and enjoy ...its a great watch even though its a quartz and my preference is for automatics.
Pretty much sum it up? No bad choices here is what I'm taking away so far.
I really appreciate the fast responses.

Buy them both along with another 6309 or 6306 diver! They are all great watches.

I'd personally say that the 007 is a classic. It's just still being made. It's certainly a future classic IMO. The fact that you can go out and buy one right now is great.
I can't say enough good things about 754x movements, though I'd recommend against hard use as the coils are very hard to come by if they blow.
Get a 007 and wear the hell out of it. You won't regret it.

Thanks to all. I decided to send the 6309 to Seikoholic for a evaluation and also picked up the 7548. Not sure that this didn't work out great. Connected with Seikoholic, and picked up one more for the watch box.

Wear any tool watch. I would venture to say that 95% of the non-WIS population will not notice the watch you're wearing. Of course if you are trying to impress WIS's and the other 5% then, yes, maybe be concerned.

I personally would try something else besides another black dialed diver. Perhaps a Pepsi BFK SKA369.

Hi, Just a point re the coil replacement problem, I am sure most will know the coil from a 7546 dress watch has the same part number, so if you own a 7548 find a beaten up 7546 thunbsup.gif........Bob.
